About the Program
The study of living nature and its patterns, and the use of biological systems to solve problems in the fields of economics, medicine, and sustainable natural resource management:
-
studying the molecular biological and cellular biological mechanisms of plant cell metabolism based on advances in structural and functional plant genomics and bioinformatics, structural biology, and molecular genetics;
-
developing new molecular biotechnologies and nanobiotechnologies for plants and prokaryotic systems;
-
developing the scientific foundations for resource-efficient technologies for processing agricultural raw materials, and identifying new types of food products and biofuels derived from biomass;
-
development of biotechnologies for the production of food products, their ingredients, and biologically active components;
-
molecular-genetic and biochemical methods for phytosanitary and medical-biological control of food raw materials, food additives, products, and feed; and the scientific foundations of biosafety.
Purpose of the Educational Program
To train highly qualified specialists in the field of biology to address complex biotechnological problems at the level of biological systems, which involves a profound reevaluation of existing competencies and the formulation of new ones regarding the principles of modifying existing biotechnologies and developing cutting-edge ones in various industrial sectors, as well as conducting research and innovation activities.
Subject Area of the Educational Program
The structure, functions, and life processes of biological systems at various levels of organization; the patterns of ontogeny, phylogeny, and succession dynamics; biodiversity and the evolution of living systems, their interactions with the environment, and their responses under various conditions; the significance of living organisms in the biosphere, the national economy, and public health.
Features of the Educational Program
A key feature of the educational program is the opportunity to combine professional knowledge in the fields of natural and agricultural sciences to address food security issues using the latest advances in biotechnology. The National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine’s many years of research experience in the fields of plant physiology, biochemistry, and biotechnology; agrochemistry; plant protection; agriculture; horticulture; vegetable growing; animal husbandry; veterinary medicine; and others enables a professional approach to solving biotechnological challenges both in the agricultural sector and in other industries, particularly food technology, pharmaceuticals, and others.
