091 “Biotechnology of Biological Systems”

To train highly qualified specialists in the field of biology to address complex biotechnological problems at the level of biological systems, which involves a profound reevaluation of existing competencies and the formulation of new ones regarding the principles of modifying existing biotechnologies and developing cutting-edge ones in various industrial sectors, as well as conducting research and innovation activities.

The structure, functions, and life processes of biological systems at various levels of organization; the patterns of ontogeny, phylogeny, and succession dynamics; biodiversity and the evolution of living systems, their interactions with the environment, and their responses under various conditions; the significance of living organisms in the biosphere, the national economy, and public health.

A key feature of the educational program is the opportunity to combine professional knowledge in the fields of natural and agricultural sciences to address food security issues using the latest advances in biotechnology. The National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine’s many years of research experience in the fields of plant physiology, biochemistry, and biotechnology; agrochemistry; plant protection; agriculture; horticulture; vegetable growing; animal husbandry; veterinary medicine; and others enables a professional approach to solving biotechnological challenges both in the agricultural sector and in other industries, particularly food technology, pharmaceuticals, and others.

According to the current version of the National Classifier of Ukraine: The DK 003:2010 Classification of Occupations (as amended on January 16, 2024) and the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO-08), a graduate with the educational qualification “Doctor of Philosophy in Biology” may be employed in positions with the following job titles:

Training for professional and personal development in scientific and professional fields, as well as other related areas of scientific knowledge:

• preparation for a Doctor of Science degree at Level 8 of the Ukrainian National Qualifications Framework in the field of natural sciences;

• studies at Level 8 (doctoral) of the Ukrainian National Qualifications Framework in related fields of scientific knowledge;

• educational programs, research grants, and scholarships (including those abroad) that include additional educational components.
