"This is not the end of fires," said Sergiy Zibtsev, a professor at the Department of Silviculrure and head of the Regional Eastern Europe Fire Monitoring Center. Climate change is a serious challenge. For the first time in 20 years we have two winters without snow. The snow cover came down in February 2019, ie the dangerous period has been going on since February last year! Therefore, climate change is a factor that has certainly affected the area of these fires. But the worst thing is the planned cleaning of gardens and fields from last year's vegetation and unpreparedness for such difficult situations."
