Meeting of Leaders of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine with Representative of Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

On October 31, 2012 meeting of the leaders of the NUBiP of Ukraine with a representative of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was held at the university.

The Deputy Head of Agriculture Development Department, Mr. Kinoshita Yoshinobu, represented Japanese International Cooperation Agency. Head of the university, Academician, D.O. Melnychuk, Assistant Head for International Affairs, M.S. Vaschyk, Head of Educational and Research Centre for International Activities, A.V. Bobrovytstkyy, Head of Scientific and Research Subdivision, A.M. Bilous, Head of Ukrainian Education and Research Institute of Bioresources Quality and Life Safety, S.D. Melnychuk, Head of Education and Research Institute of Business, A.D. Dibrova, Dean of Faculty of Food Technologies and Quality Control of Agricultural Products, L.V. Bal-Prilipko, Head of M. K. Shykuly Department of Soil Science and Soil Conservation, A.D. Balayev, and Associate Professor O.L. Tonha participated on behalf of the university.

During the meeting, a number of issues concerning the detailed study of the needs and search of information connected with the possibility of cooperation programmes in the agricultural and environmental fields in Ukraine were discussed.

National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) expressed their interest in further cooperation.

NUBiP of Ukraine and JICA are interested in the following areas of technical cooperation:

·                    participation in the preparation of feasibility study project for the Science Park of the university, which is in the process of registration;

·                    interaction project between Japanese companies working with biotechnology, crop, livestock, forest management and Ukrainian companies in the framework of Science Park development;

·                    establishment of joint research in the fields of biotechnology, processing and storage of agricultural products, food safety;

·                    conducting of joint research and creation of pilot models of rural development;

·                    exchange of experience in biological social economic models that are wide-spread in Japan;

·                    permanent dialogue: students, graduate students and researchers exchanges aimed at spread of knowledge about two countries;

·                    experience exchange in the field of bio-energy and reduction of greenhouse gases.

National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine is ready to take on the role of the leading scientific and educational institution in coordination of cooperation within abovementioned fields.
