The history of Department of Forest Mensuration and Forest Management takes its beginning from the Department of Forest Mensuration, Forest Inventory and Forest Management of Novo-Alexandria Institute of Agriculture and Forestry (Poland, 1840).

   In 1998, by separating from the Department of Forest Mensuration and Forest Inventory, the Department of Forest Management was set up to solve educational and scientific problems in the sphere of forestry economics and forest resource management. In the period from 1998 to 2018, departments of Forest Management and Forest Mensuration and Forest Inventory had been functioning as separate structural units with close scientific connections.

   In order to optimize the structure of the University, on September 1, 2018, the two departments were merged into Department of Forest Mensuration and Forest Management.

   The Department provides training process for forestry, park-gardening and hunting specialists, as well as specialists in woodworking and furniture technologies. Scientific and pedagogic staff of the Department carry out fundamental and applied research in sphere of rational environmental management. Postgraduate students and postdoctoral students are also trained at the Department.
