Professor of the Ohio State University Standly Thompson visited the Department of Economics

     One of the priorities of the program of developing the University "Holosiivska Initsiatyva 2020" is the expansion of international activities to ensure the competitiveness of our university in education.

     Productive cooperation of the instructors of the Department of Economics with the leading universities of the United States of America promotes internship under the Faculty Exchange Program (FEP) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This program was initiated to establish strong American-Ukrainian relations to improve scientific and educational level and programs of disciplines on agrarian economy by the world standards.

     In May 2015 the Department of Economics and Department of Agricultural Management are planning a series of business meetings, seminars and public lectures with the representatives of the State Universities of Ohio and Colorado by the results of our instructors’ training within the FEP.
In particular, on May 12-14, 2015 our University was visited by Professor of the Ohio State University Standly Thompson, who teaches at the chair of Agricultural Economics and the Environment. His research interests include the analysis of price trends in the market and its state regulation.

     During the meeting with the Dean of the Department of Economics Dibrova A.D. and Director of TSC of international activities Tkachuk V.A. the parties exchanged information on the structure, main activities of the Universities and discussed the possibilities of expanding international cooperation and the Department of Economics and the Ohio State University to promote scientific and pedagogical, educational and cultural experience.
The chair of statistics and economic analysis hosted a scientific and methodical seminar for instructors, where they got familiarized themselves with the general principles of organizing the education system in the USA. The issue on the specifics of teaching disciplines on statistics and economic analysis in the present conditions aiming to update the content of their analogous training programs in Ukraine and improve the teaching methods in accordance with the international requirements was also discussed.

     Students of the Department of Economics also had the opportunity to meet with the American guest. Professor S.Tomson delivered lectures for 2-3 year students on the areas of "Finance", "Accounting and Auditing", "Business Economics", as well as on econometrics for the practical application of econometric methods and models in economics. Lectures were held in a friendly atmosphere and caused great interest among students.
