NUBiP of Ukraine received a delegation of the World Bank Group headed by Vice-President Antonella BASSANI

On September 11, 2026, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine was visited by a delegation of the World Bank Group, headed by the vice-president for the Europe and Central Asia region, Ms. Antonella BASSANI, to meet with the leadership of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the academic community of the University.

Rector of NUBiP of Ukraine Vadym TKACHUK opened the meeting with a welcoming speech and introduced the distinguished guests. The World Bank Group delegation included the vice-president Antonella BASSANI, special assistant to the vice-president Rukshan RODRIGUEZ, World Bank director for national affairs Bob SOM, regional manager for agriculture and food Holger KRAY, senior specialist in agriculture Oleksandr MULYAR, external communications specialist Viktor ZABLOTSKY, and director of the European Department of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Inez ROCHA as well as senior manager of IFC Country Affairs Olena VOLOSHYNA. The Ukrainian side was represented at the meeting by the minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine Taras VYSOTSKY, deputy minister Denys BASHLYK, director of the department of rural development of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy Polina Ivashchenko. The meeting was attended by members of the rector's office, academic council, students and postgraduates of the University.


The central event was a public lecture by Antonella BASSANI on the topic «Food security and sustainability — Ukraine's global impact». The speaker spoke about global food risks, Ukraine's role in ensuring food security in the world, as well as the far-reaching consequences of violations in supply chains and export routes. Special attention was paid to the areas of support for agriculture in Ukraine by the World Bank Group. Taras VYSOTSKY, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, a university graduate, addressed the participants with a short speech. He stressed the urgent problem of the industry — the restoration of existing logistics routes and search for alternative ones for the supply of agricultural grain to world markets.


After the lecture, a question-and-answer session was held. It was moderated by the rector Vadym TKACHUK. Questions in English were asked by the professor Oleksiy PIDDUBNY, associate professor Bohdan HRUSHETSKY, students Arseniy MOTUZYUK, Nazari KLOS, Sofia MOKHONKO.
