The department of public administration, innovation management and advisory services of the TRI of continuing education of NUBiP of Ukraine has joined the European week of cities and regions in Brussels.

As part of the Ukrainian delegation, Serhiy ZAMIDRA, senior lecturer of the department of public administration, innovation management and consulting of TRI of continuing education of NUBiP of Ukraine, took part in the event, which combines scientific activities with practical work in community development.

During the week, meetings were held with key structures of the European Commission, including: DG REGIO — European Commission Directorate General for regional and urban policy, where the involvement of Ukrainian regions in the policy of cohesion and territorial cooperation programs was discussed; DG AGRI — Directorate General for agriculture and rural development, which is responsible for the EU's common agricultural policy. During the meeting Serhiy ZAMIDRA presented Ukrainian pilot projects to implement leader approaches and innovation groups of small agricultural producers that unite farmers, scientists and communities for joint innovations in the rural sector; DG NEAR and ENEST — subdivisions of the European Commission responsible for good governance, reconstruction and integration of neighboring countries, with which the ways to strengthen the institutional capacity of communities were discussed; the EU Committee of regions — a platform for dialogue between European and Ukrainian municipalities on creating sustainable partnerships and joint projects.

The agreements received, laid the foundation for further development of rural development programs in Ukraine, in particular on:

  • adaptation of European mechanisms to support farmers and local initiatives within the framework of the future Common Agrarian Policy (CAP);

  • development of LEADER tools and innovation groups of small agricultural producers (SIGs);

  • integration of scientific approaches to planning and monitoring rural development.
