Field Meeting of the Working Group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Prevention Landscape Fires in Zhytomyr Oblast

On July 9, 2020, prof. Siviculture Department NULES of Ukraine, head of the Regional Eastern Europe Fire Monitoring Center Sergiy Zibtsev, took part in a field meeting of the Joint Working Group of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management and the Committee on Law Enforcement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the causes of landscape fires and their prevention in Zhytomyr Oblast. The field meeting took place on the basis of the Olevsk State Forestry, which suffered from the April landscape fires and the Olevsk Regional State Administration.

The meeting was attended by the People's Deputies, members of the committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Roman Abramovsky, the Head of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, the Acting chairmen of State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine, forestry managers of the region and other participants. Sergiy Zibtsev presented a report on urgent steps to improve fire management in the region and Ukraine as a whole.
