Forest Fire in the Chornobyl exclusion zone – “The Red Forest” is on fire

On Tuesday, the 5th of June in the Chornobyl exclusion zone dry grass was caught on fire and the fire spread onto forest afterwards. This was reported by press center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. According to the given information, the fire spread on the area of 10 hectares. Fire suppression continues in the exclusion zone and in the zone of obligatory resettlement.
The SES aviation is working on the fire. Specifically: 2 planes AN-32P, helicopter Mi-8. As of 6 p.m., aviation has done 10 water drops (51,5 tons). 29 units of machinery, 126 people, of them from the SES 10 units of machinery and 75 people, from SE “Pivnichna Pushcha” 47 people and 17 units of machinery, of them 3 tractors, and from transport department of Chornobyl city 2 units of machinery and 4 people.
