ECOTWINS: Field Season 2025 Concluded

All fieldwork at the ECOTWINS experimental site in Ukraine has been successfully completed. This year, two major field trials were established to study the dynamics of intercropping biocenoses under the influence of biostimulants and soil amendments.

The results obtained during the third year of biostimulant research will provide the basis for developing optimal strategies for their use are aimed at improving crop yields, enhancing soil conditions, and supporting sustainable land use practices.

Meanwhile, the trial with bio-amendments and their combinations with mineral fertilizers will help expand the possibilities for managing productivity in complex systems and assessing their resilience under climate change and weather variability.

In total, observations this season covered 102 unique treatment combinations in triplicate replications (four systems with eight variants in Trial 1, and seven systems with ten variants in Trial 2). The most significant findings will be made available to the broader public through supplementary materials, while detailed scientific justifications and recommendations will appear in peer-reviewed journal publications.

Over the past three years, the ECOTWINS team has advanced significantly in fine-tuning excellence in field research. Now, the focus is gradually shifting to laboratory analyses, finalizing results and further improving sustainable land-use practices through intercropping and bio-amendments.
