Scientists of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Aquatic Bioresources in the trend of international scientific research!

October 26, 2022

    In order to implement the development program of the University “Holosiyiv initiative-2025”, scientists of the faculty of Animal Husbandry and Aquatic Bioresources systematically and successfully work on strengthening international ties in the scientific, educational and social field. Going one step ahead of the market demand’s challenges for food products and analyzing the necessary resource support for its production is the purpose of the grant activity functioning of the civilized scientific community.

     Thus, on September 22-23, 2022, a working meeting was held at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala within the framework of the “Happy animals for sustainable production and consumption” project. The purpose of the project is the study of sustainable production in the focus of the development interaction of farms within the requirements of animal welfare and its economic assessment in Ukraine and Azerbaijan. The project is being implemented through funding from the Swedish Agricultural University.

     The project consortium consists of scientific institutions of five countries:

  • Sweden (Swedish Agricultural University, Uppsala University, Swedish Research Institute);
  • Latvia (Latvian University of Natural Sciences and Technologies);
  • Lithuania (Lithuanian Veterinary Academy);
  • Azerbaijan (Khazar University);
  • Ukraine (National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine, Poltava State Agrarian University).

      During the first day of the consortium’s work, reports were listened to based on the results of the studies performed in Ukraine and Azerbaijan “Results of the survey analysis of consumers regarding their attitude to the issue of animal welfare” and “Results of the survey analysis of farmers regarding their attitude to the issue of animal welfare”.

     The performed studies showed the relevance of the subject and deep interest on the part of consumers and farms. The question of balancing the economic factors of production, including the efficiency of using a unit of production space, the terms of recovery and the volume of products with postulates of animal welfare are often in dissonance with industrial production, but at the level of stimulating the development of farms, it is justified by many objective factors.

     Modern challenges to agricultural science entail the need to diversify the commodity group of products not only by species composition, but also by origin, production technology and conditions of animal treatment.

      It was a pleasant meeting to listen to a scientific report by a graduate of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Aquatic Bioresources, Khrystyna Kurta, who deservedly praised the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine in the world. Our graduate is successfully engaged in the issue of fish welfare and genetics in Sweden.

     The second day of the consortium's work was devoted to the substantiation of scientific ideas for the subject of the project submission under the “Horizon is Europe” program. As part of the discussions, the positions of each member of the working group were discussed and a basis for further fruitful work was obtained.
It is pleasant to state that, in addition to scientific activity, great attention was paid to the implementation of academic mobility for students and master's students, which will permit to expand the depth of students' competencies in the near future, to overcome the language barrier in education and to deepen the best domestic and global practices of agrarian science.

     The National University of Bioresources and Nature Management works hard to achieve victory in all fields, because it is our talented youth and scientific cohort of researchers who are destined to rebuild the country and strengthen the state's economy every day with their work.
