NUBiP of Ukraine strengthens its position in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025
The National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine ranked 1097th among 1745 participants in the global ranking UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025, confirming the University's status focused on implementing environmentally sustainable approaches. Among Ukrainian higher education institutions, NUBiP of Ukraine ranked 14th out of 33 institutions, rising by 5 positions compared to 2024. This indicates the stable development of the University in the field of sustainable development and the effectiveness of environmental initiatives implemented.
GreenMetric UI rating evaluates universities by a set of indicators covering infrastructure and spatial planning, energy efficiency and climate change response, waste management systems, water use, transport management, and educational and scientific activities in sustainable development. Improving the position of NUBIP of Ukraine in 2025 is associated with the development of a «green» campus, the introduction of energy-saving technologies, the improvement of the waste management system, and the expansion of training courses and research projects aimed at solving environmental challenges.
In 2025, the rating combined 1745 universities and has become an important platform for comparing sustainable development practices in higher education. The increase in participation of Ukrainian universities from 26 to 33 compared to last year, demonstrates increased attention to environmental standards, integration of European approaches to environmental management and development of «green» policies in the higher education sector.
Improving the position of NUBiP of Ukraine is consistent with the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular in the areas of quality education, renewable energy, combating climate change and partnerships for sustainable development. The university consistently integrates these goals into educational programs, research projects and infrastructure initiatives, which contributes to strengthening its international credibility and attractiveness to students and partner institutions.
As a higher education institution specializing in life sciences, NUBiP of Ukraine plays an important role in shaping the national policy of sustainable development and supports the state's European integration course in the educational and scientific environment. Improving the University's position in UI GreenMetric confirms its contribution to the development of environmentally friendly technologies and contributes to strengthening the image of Ukraine as a state focused on «green» transformation and adaptation to the standards of the European Green course.
