International experience: Oleksiy MELNYK delivered public lecture at Linyi University, China
On June 23, the International School of Bioresource Application of Linyi University held a special academic lecture on «Anatomy as a science and its place among other biological disciplines». The lecture was jointly organized by the International College of Bioresource Application and the College of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, with Associate Professor Oleksiy MELNYK being invited as the keynote speaker. The event was attended by Tang WEN, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee (chairs the work of the Party Committee), and Liu ZHENNING, vice dean of the College, vice dean (part-time) and advisor Zhang SHUAN. The lecture was led by Liu ZHENNING.
In his lecture, Oleksiy MELNYK presented two sections of academic content. In the first part, he systematically reviewed the development of anatomy from ancient times to the present, both in China and abroad, listing the landmark research achievements of representative scholars in each period and providing an in-depth introduction to the academic line of the Ukrainian school of anatomy, thus outlining a complete picture of the development of the discipline for the attending teachers and students. In the second part, the professor started from the chemical and biochemical components of organisms, deeply explaining the hierarchical structure of living organisms from cells, tissues and organs to the whole organism. He focused on the analysis of the structural characteristics and functional features of connective tissue, and also explained in detail the conduction mechanisms and physiological functions of nervous tissue, organically combining fundamental theory with advanced research to help teachers and students deepen their systematic understanding of the organizational structure of animal organisms.
Based on the well-known discipline of animal morphogenesis in Ukraine and drawing on long-standing research results on the anatomy of domestic animals in Eastern Europe, this lecture offered academic knowledge from both phylogenetic and ontogenetic perspectives. The lecture combined theoretical depth with practical application, providing valuable learning opportunities for young teachers and students to strengthen their professional base and align with academic approaches to animal development research in Eastern Europe. The atmosphere was highly academic, and the lecture was enthusiastically received by teachers and students.
The International College of Bioresource application at Linyi University was established in May 2023 and is the first independent legal entity of the university, a Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution approved by the Ministry of Education. The college has a solid foundation of cooperation with the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. This academic lecture has further deepened the academic exchanges between the two universities in fields such as animal anatomy, and has positive significance for promoting the internationalization of the college and promoting Sino-Ukrainian academic cooperation.
At the end, Oleksiy Olehovych was awarded the title of «Honorary Member» of the International College of Bioresource Application of Linyi University.
