Scientific developments by NUBiP of Ukraine and India bring together digital education and aquafarming for food security

Scientific ideas acquire genuine value when they move beyond research laboratories and university classrooms, helping people find their own paths in professional life and entrepreneurship. Promoting the scientific achievements of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP of Ukraine) is an important part of this process, bringing together economic research, digital education and international expertise, particularly that of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, India, and the Research Academy of India (FAI), to strengthen food security.

Another opportunity for Professor Nataliia VDOVENKO of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, together with Professor Pankaj SRIVASTAVA to present and promote the University’s scientific achievements was the 16th International Scientific and Practical Conference «Current Issues in Theoretical and Practical Ichthyology», held on 29 September 2026 in Dnipro at Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University.

The distinctive feature of the «Aquafarming Navigator» micro-course is its focus not only on introducing contemporary areas of economic activity, including the farming of fish, shrimp and crayfish, black soldier flies and snails, but also on developing a practical understanding of the steps involved in starting a business.

Professor Nataliia VDOVENKO devoted particular attention to promoting the results of research project No. 110/6-pr-2025, «Scientific Substantiation of Agrotechnological Solutions for Regulating the Development of the Circular and Blue Economies in Agriculture and Fisheries for the Rehabilitation of Military Personnel and the Post-War Reconstruction of Ukraine» (state registration No. 0125U001973).

Presenting the research findings to the international scientific community fosters interdisciplinary research, expands international academic partnerships under existing agreements and helps identify promising avenues for the practical application of Ukrainian–Indian scientific developments.

The «Aquafarming Navigator» micro-course places considerable emphasis on creating economic opportunities for military personnel and veterans through their involvement in agricultural entrepreneurship, vocational training, the acquisition of aquaculture technologies and the establishment of their own businesses.

In this context, we presented the «Aquafarming Navigator» micro-course as a promising educational tool that can connect scientific knowledge with the practical needs of prospective producers, encourage self-employment and create new jobs.

The research findings cover successive stages, from assessing market opportunities and substantiating the choice of business activity to planning production processes. Subsequent stages address determining resource requirements, calculating costs and production costs, identifying sources of financing and selecting product distribution channels. This provides a basis for considering digital education as a component of preparing prospective producers for practical activities in aquaculture.

The joint presentation of research findings by NUBiP of Ukraine and Indian colleagues expands international scientific cooperation and promotes Ukrainian scientific developments within the global academic community.

This cooperation opens up new opportunities to implement existing research projects, exchange scientific expertise and modern educational technologies, and apply research findings in practice to develop sectors of the agricultural economy.
