NUBiP of Ukraine has received an SimaPro academic license — a leading software product for life cycle assessment

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the leading scientific approach for comprehensive analysis of the environmental impact of products and technological processes. In the face of global environmental challenges and a global course for sustainable development, integrating LCA methodology into the educational process is a critical requirement of the time. The modern sector of the economy needs new generation specialists who are able to design environmentally safe technologies, minimize the resource intensity of production and make scientifically based engineering decisions.

To ensure the appropriate level of training for higher education applicants, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine has received an academic license for specialized software SimaPro Craft Faculty from the company PRé Sustainability. This software product is a recognized international standard in the field of modeling environmental systems. The key advantage of the obtained license is integrated access to an international database Ecoinvent v3, which provides researchers with global verified data to perform the most accurate calculations of the environmental impact of materials and processes.

The academic agreement provides for the use of SimaPro's facilities for educational purposes by employees and students of NUBiP of Ukraine.

The introduction of this software package in the training programs of specialists in mechanical and technological specialties opens up new prospects for practical training of students. Access to real environmental modeling tools will allow would-be engineers to master the principles of sustainable development in practice and develop the competencies necessary to working out innovative, environmentally friendly solutions in the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine.
