Historic memorandum signed: NUBiP and BUAN are starting their cooperation

On April 17, 2026, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) during an online meeting in the format of an official signing ceremony.

The event included presentations by delegations, welcoming speeches, direct signing of the memorandum, a question-and-answer session, and closing remarks by both rectors.

NUBiP of Ukraine was represented by the rector Vadym TKACHUK, vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work and international activities Oleksandr LABENKO, head of international relations department Maksym KLYMENKO and leading specialist of the international relations department Oleksiy KRAVCHENKO. From BUAN — rector Professor Ketlhatlogile MOSEPELE and representatives of the University.

The opening of the meeting began with a welcoming speech by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Botswana Dr. Oleksiy SYVAK to whom both universities expressed their sincere gratitude for initiating and organizing this partnership. The ambassador stressed that despite everything, the prospects for Ukrainian-African cooperation open up broad horizons.

Rector of BUAN Professor Ketlhatlogile MOSEPELE noted the high level of presentation of NUBiP and focused on the key challenges facing Botswana — food security and food safety. BUAN representatives expressed great interest in adopting the Ukrainian experience in these areas and stressed their readiness for cooperation in the areas of education, science and nature management.

Signing a memorandum with BUAN is the first step in the new strategy of NUBiP of Ukraine to expand relations on the African continent within the framework of the program of the president of Ukraine for the development of international educational partnerships. The university remains open to new forms of international cooperation and is ready to actively develop a global academic network.
