University hosted Convention of students foresters from 12 European countries

     University hosted an international scientific and practical convention "Northern European Regional Meeting" (NERM 2017). The participants were students from 12 countries. It is organized by student scientific club "Kyiv Foresters Student Association» (KFSA), Institute of Forestry and Park Gardening of NUBiP of Ukraine. This scientific event is one of the largest and most important annual gatherings of forestry students from all over Europe. Here they learn about Ukrainian forestry in terms of forest multi-use, visit leading enterprises and companies which specialize in this area, learn about Ukrainian culture and customs, traditional clothing, cuisine, handicrafts and so on.

 

 

       Sergii Kvasha, vice rector for educational activities visited the opening ceremony of Convention. Petro Lakyda, director of Institute told the history Institute of Forestry and Park Gardening. Liubov Poliakova, a representative of State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine gave a detailed description of forests of Ukraine and forestry as an industry.

 

 

 

       Participants got interested in Pavlo Kravets’s presentation about forest certification. Petro Kravets is a director of national FSC office in Ukraine. Professor Vasyl Yuhnovsky shared the information about agro forestry in Ukraine through multifunctional use of forests. Serhii Novutskyi told about the peculiarities of wood processing industry of Ukraine, Mariia Sovakova spoke about green planting in Kyiv. Participants also visited museum of forest animals named after Salhanskyi, Stihl laboratory and botanical garden of the university. The convention rounded up with a concert.
