Students of NUBiP of Ukraine successfully performed at the World Tug-of-War Championship in Taipei

On March 12-15, 2026, the World Indoor tug-of-war Championship was held in Taipei (Taiwan). This is the first time that Taiwan has hosted world-class competition in this sport. More than 1000 participants from 15 countries gathered at the Taipei Arena, which demonstrates the rapid development of tug-of-war as an international competitive sport.


Ukraine was represented at the competition by 17 athletes under the guidance of a coach senior lecturer of the department of physical culture and sports Artem TSYBROVSKY, among which there were students of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine: Andriy BELAN (Faculty of animal husbandry and aquatic bioresources), Yuriy PRYSHCHEPA (Faculty of humanities and pedagogy) and Iryna KOTSYUBAILO (Faculty of agrobiology).

The team competed in several categories and showed high results:

  • up to 23 years, 560 kg2nd place. In the team: Ivan KHOLODOV, Andriy BELAN, Maksym TOVTYK, Yuriy PRYSHCHEPA, Natalia SHAPENKO, Alyona BOHDANENKO, Iryna KOTSYUBAILO, Diana BOBCHYNETS, Ruslana YARMOLENKO.

  • mix, 580 kg 4th place. The team consists of Ivan KHOLODOV, Ilya SHPOTA, Oleksandr PRYKHODKO, Serhiy MATVIENKO, Tetiana PIDKOVKA, Yulia KLYMENKO, Kateryna SHEVCHUK, Diana BOBCHYNETS, Kristina DEMCHENKO.

  • women, 540 kg 3rd place. The team consists of Alyona BOHDANENKO, Natalia SHAPENKO, Ruslana YARMOLENKO, Iryna KOTSYUBAILO, Tetiana PIDKOVKA, Yulia KLYMENKO, Kateryna SHEVCHUK, Diana BOBCHYNETS, Kristina DEMCHENKO.

The competition was held in a round-robin system two rounds, a semi-final and a final, with a total of 12 pools. Ukrainian athletes demonstrated high technique and team coherence, which allowed them to adequately represent the country in the international arena.


Participation in World Cup has become an important experience for students of NUBiP of Ukraine, who were able not only to compete with the best athletes in the world, but also to learn from the experience of organizing international tournaments and improve the level of team training. Coach Artem TSYBROVSKY noted that such competitions motivate young athletes to further develop and conquer new sports peaks.


This successful performance of the Ukrainian team confirms the growing potential of our country in the global tug-of-war and contributes to strengthening the International sports authority of Ukraine.
