International Cooperation in Geomatics and Precision Agriculture: NUBiP of Ukraine Participates in the AGROPATH Workshop in Chisinau

Recently, the first workshop of the Erasmus+ project AGROPATH — «Observation for Precision Agriculture in Higher Education» was hosted by the Faculty of Construction, Geodesy and Cadastre of Technical University of Moldova in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.

National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine was represented by Antonina MOSKALENKO, Head of the Department of Geoinformatics and Aerospace Research of the Earth, and Vyacheslav BOGDANETS, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Land Management for International Affairs and Associate Professor of the Department of Geodesy and Cartography.

The workshop brought together representatives of partner universities from Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Slovenia, Greece, and Hungary. The meeting focused on the coordination and implementation of the next phase of the project, particularly activities related to the development and modernization of higher education programmes in the fields of geomatics, remote sensing, and precision agriculture.

During the workshop, partner institutions presented their existing educational programmes and exchanged experiences regarding curriculum design and educational approaches. A comparative analysis of the programmes was conducted in order to identify opportunities for improving academic content in line with labour market demands, technological development, and national regulatory frameworks in the participating countries.

Special attention was given to the modernization of curricula and academic disciplines, the development of new short-term training courses, and the integration of advanced geospatial technologies into the educational process. Discussions focused on the application of Earth remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in higher education and professional training for the agricultural sector.

As a result of the workshop, the partners agreed on a preliminary list of academic disciplines and training modules that will be updated or newly developed within the framework of the project. The meeting also contributed to establishing a shared vision for the implementation of the current project stage and resulted in the development of a roadmap for further activities and cooperation.

The Erasmus+ AGROPATH project creates new opportunities for National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine as an active consortium partner. The upcoming stages of the project include the development of modern educational resources, implementation of innovative teaching practices, and strengthening of international academic cooperation.

The project is expected to contribute to the advancement of precision agriculture, digital transformation of the agricultural sector, and the preparation of highly qualified specialists equipped with modern geospatial and digital competencies.
