Philosophical meetings: theoretical and practical aspects of bioethics – a guest lecture for graduate students and staff of NULES of Ukraine

   On February 2, 2022 a guest lecture was given on "Philosophical principles of bioethics: theoretical and practical aspects" for higher education students of the 3rd level of accreditation of the department of philosophy and international communication, department of pedagogy and teaching staff of these departments of the faculty of humanities and pedagogy of NULES of Ukraine. The lecture was given by professor, doctor of philosophy, head of the department of logic and methodology of science of the H.S. Skovoroda Institute of philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Hardashuk Tetyana Vasylivna.

  The lecture was attended by professors of other HEE of Ukraine: doctor of philosophy, professor, head of the department of philosophy of the M.P. Drahomanov National Pedagogical University Mozghova N.H., doctor of philosophy, professor, head of the department of philosophy and bioethics of the Bohomolets National Medical University Vasylieva I.V., doctor of philosophy, professor, head of the department of philosophy of Borys Hrinchenko University of Kyiv Dodonov R.O., candidate of philosophy, associate professor, head of the department of philosophy of Sumy Agrarian University Shevel A.A. and applicants from these universities. Present professors act as employers in the educational and scientific program 033 Philosophy.

 The introductory speech was made by the guarantor of the PhD 033 Philosophy program, doctor of philosophy, professor Vira Dodonova, who stressed the relevance of the chosen topic of the guest lecture, which is the need for humane treatment of living and inanimate nature, to avoid negative consequences of anthropocentrism in the postmodern world.

 This opinion was supported by the head of the department of philosophy and international communication, associate professor, candidate of philosophy Valentyna Kultenko, who noted the interdisciplinarity as a characteristic of post-classical science, the need for philosophical reflection on modern scientific, social and political processes.

 At the beginning of her lecture, professor Tetiana Hardashuk presented a collective monograph "Bioethics: from theory to practice." She stressed the importance of this scientific achievement for the modern philosophical and scientific community.

  The second part of the lecture was devoted to "Biosafety in Politics, Science, Education", where the author stressed that "biosafety occupies an important place in many areas of human activity and is determined by the specifics of a particular industry, including development, implementation and transfer of new technologies; medicine, pharmacology, health care; veterinary medicine; agriculture and food security, including the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs); the state of the environment and the quality of human life; nature protection and biodiversity conservation; trade and travel, etc."

 The lecturer identified the issues of biosafety, the criteria for determining biosafety, namely anthropocentrism, egalitarianism, universal (integrated approach), stressed the identity and differences between the concepts of "biosafety and biosecurity". Tetyana Vasylivna emphasized that biosafety can be considered as a scientific and political problem.

 After the lecture there was a lively discussion, during which the students asked questions to the lecturer, shared their own views on this issue and outlined the prospects for joint work.
