Digital Twins COPILOT Workshop lecture for Young Scientists

On December 1, 2025, the first day of winter, the "Winter School of Young Scientists 5.0" commenced, organized by the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The Chairman of the Council, Anastasia Simakhova, opened the work of the School, congratulated the participants, spoke about the activities of the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and gave the floor to the speaker, Nazarenko V.A., who monthly presents informative and interesting scientific reports to the students of the School.

The December meeting of the Winter School 5.0 of the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, attended by more than 60 participants from across Ukraine, included members of the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as scientists and teachers.

Volodymyr Nazarenko, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Faculty of Information Technologies of NUBiP of Ukraine, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Systems, Networks and Cybersecurity, held an interactive for the participants of the School on the topic: "INDUSTRY 5.0. DIGITAL TWINS AND VIDEO GAME WORLDS: POSSIBILITIES AND ISSUES" or "DIGITAL TWINS: URBANIZATION, GAMING, DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT".

This lecture is part of Enhancing Deep Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Capacities in Sustainable Energy and Clean Technologies for a long-lasting institutional change within European HEIs – COPILOT project in NUBiP of Ukraine.

The topic proposed by the lecturer this time proved to be extremely interesting for young scientists and students of the School, arousing keen interest and discussion.

It should be noted that the next day, December 2, 2025, a foreign speaker - John BOSKO BUNYI, PhD, University of Southern California (USA) - spoke at the Winter School of Young Scientists 5.0. For the students of the School, he held a fascinating lecture on the topic: "DIGITAL TOOLS FOR MENTAL HEALTH".

According to Volodymyr Anatolyevich, in his report, the speaker emphasized that 3D visualization and digital twins are becoming key tools in architecture, urban planning, industry, and the creative industries today.

Using the examples of urban digital models, educational cases of the Faculty of Information Technologies, and international projects, Volodymyr Nazarenko demonstrated how a three-dimensional model allows you to test scenarios for the development of the city, assess the impact of decisions on transport, ecology, and quality of life, and involve the public in decision-making.

Volodymyr paid special attention to Industry 4.0 and 5.0, as well as the roles of cloud computing, IoT, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics in building innovative and sustainable urban systems. The lecturer showed how video game technologies and modern game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine) are increasingly used to create digital twins of cities, industrial facilities, and complex cyber-physical systems, and also emphasized the importance of cybersecurity, data protection, and ethical aspects of the use of telemetry and user behavioral models.

The participants of the School discussed cases of virtual twin cities, specifically 3D models of the urban environment and examples of using digital twins for infrastructure planning, environmental monitoring, and emergency response, as well as the possibilities of applying similar approaches to Ukrainian cities and communities.

The speaker paid considerable attention to the interdisciplinary training of specialists capable of combining IT competencies, urban planning, design, cybersecurity, and gaming technologies.
