Educational and scientific bridge Zaporizhzhya-Mykolaiv-Kyiv on the topic "Translator of the XXI century - agent of discourse" meeting with the famous translator Daria Moskvitina
The department of Romance and Germanic languages and translation held a round table "Educational and scientific bridge Zaporizhzhya-Mykolaiv-Kyiv on the topic "Translator of the XXI century - agent of discourse", meeting with the famous translator Daria Moskvitina." Despite the busy training schedule, intensive preparation for the test and examination session and the tense situation with light related to the military aggression of russia, the department of Romance and Germanic languages and translation of NULES of Ukraine together with the department of theory and practice of translation from English of the Petro Mohyla Chornomorsky National University arranged the round table with the participation of a well-known translator Daria Moskvitina. Daria Anatoliivna Moskvitina is a candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of the department of foreign languages of Zaporizhzhya State Medical University, Shakespearean scholar, translator. Translator of popular fiction, teen literature, and popular non-fiction. Daria Anatoliivna wrote a translation of such works as J.Harris "Five quarters of an orange" (2019), Setterfield D. "Out there in the Dark River "(2020) by Harris J. "Blackberry wine "(2021).
The purpose of the round table was to strengthen motivation to study foreign languages and study modern problems in the field of philology and translation studies, provide opportunities for the formation of language, cross-cultural and translation competencies, as well as activate cognitive activity, develop creative thinking and personal and professional qualities. The round table was joined by 180 participants, including applicants of 1-4 full-time Bachelor's degree courses of the P. Mohyla Chornomorsky National University and the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine majoring in philology (English) and "International relations, public communications and regional studios." The guests of the round table were addressed with a welcoming speech: Natalia Shevchenko- candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, deputy dean of the faculty of humanities and pedagogy of NULES of Ukraine, co-chairman of the organizing committee; Maria Lychuk- doctor of philology science, professor, head of the department of Romance and Germanic languages and translation of NULES of Ukraine, co-chairman of the organizing committee; Halyna Kuzenko- candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of the Institute of philology of the P. Mohyla Chornomorsky National University, head of the department of theory and practice of translation from English; Halyna Sydoruk- candidate of philology, associate professor of the department of Romance and Germanic languages and translation of NULES of Ukraine. Moderated the event by V. V. Yulia Molotkina. Galina Sidoruk together with the words of congratulations to the guests of the event, she presented an interesting lecture on the peculiarities of military translation, which is a relevant and extremely important issue in the context of a full-scale war that the Russian Federation has started against Ukraine. Mainspicker of the event Daria Moskvitina made a report in which she spoke about her path of becoming a translator, the importance of the translation specialty. The performance of Darya Anatoliivna was followed by the section "questions and answers", during which applicants of the specialties "Philology" and "International relations, public communications and regional studios" had the opportunity to communicate directly with a professional practitioner and ask her questions that are relevant for young novice translators. The range of problems discussed by applicants with Daria Anatoliivna, concerned the nuances and all the challenges on the way to becoming a bachelor's degree to a professional translator, the demand for translation activities in Ukraine, the current state of artistic and theatrical translation in Ukraine, as well as the prospects for the development of the Ukrainian translation school.
