International activity

In September 2017, the Department of Hydrobiology and Ichthyology initiated the holding of the X (anniversary) International Ichthyological Conference "Modern Problems of Theoretical and Practical Ichthyology" and won the right to be its organizer. The conference brought together specialists from leading state institutions of Ukraine engaged in the protection and reproduction of aquatic living resources, representatives of public organizations, and teaching staff of higher educational institutions. Delegates from Germany, Poland, Moldova, Belarus, Georgia, and Iran took part in the conference.

It became a successful starting point for international cooperation. 80 scientific materials were submitted to the organizing committee from 159 authors from 9 countries of the world, devoted to various issues of fundamental and applied ichthyology: fauna and systematics, aspects of general biodiversity, alien species and their ecology, issues of modern aquaculture, freshwater and marine fisheries, protection of aquatic organisms in Ukraine and the world.

In October 2017, a delegation of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Aquatic Bioresources, consisting of the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs Kononenko R.V. and Associate Professor of the Department Rudyk-Leuska N.Ya. visited the University of Life Sciences in Lublin in order to exchange experience in carrying out educational work. They got acquainted with the features of the educational process and practical training of students of a related specialty, preparation of final master's theses, and visited educational laboratories.

In May 2018, the department hosted guests from the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, who came to the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Sustainable Development Goals of the Third Millennium: Challenges for Universities of Life Sciences", dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the founding of the National University of Life Resources and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. For students of specialty 207 "Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture", lectures were given by Jacek Rechulic "Modern Methods of Ichthyological Research" and Tomasz Mieczan "Consequences of Eutrophication of Water Bodies".

During the same period, the department successfully joined the international Erasmus+ project, a non-profit program of the European Union for the exchange of students and teachers between universities in the European Union, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Norway and Turkey.

We hosted colleagues from the University of Zagreb (Croatia) as guests to exchange experience - Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture Marina Piria, who is engaged in ichthyological research, in particular, the spread of alien fish species in Croatian waters, and Professor Mirna Mrkonjic Fuka, who is a specialist in the field of microbiology

Students of the first and second years of specialty 207 "Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture" were invited to the lecture

In August 2019, within the framework of the FOSCAPE work program, a university delegation consisting of Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, International Activities and Development Tkachuk V.A., Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Aquatic Bioresources Kondratyuk V.M., Professor Geti A.A. and Assistant Dean for International Activities Rudyk-Leuska N.Ya. took part in a practical seminar on the development and participation in international projects of the European Union HORIZON-2020, which took place at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

Associate Professor of the Department of Hydrobiology and Ichthyology Kotovska Hanna Oleksandrivna completed the "Practical Course on Fishing Methods in Freshwaters" training (Practical Course on Fishing Methods in Freshwaters, 2022), organized by the Biological Center of the Czech Academy of Sciences in the village of Černá in Pošumov on the Lipno River, the largest reservoir in the Czech Republic. During the training, they got acquainted with modern equipment and methods of researching fish in freshwater. Theoretical classes were combined with practical work, which allowed them to improve professional skills and gain the necessary practical experience.
