Reforestation campaign – 2012 at Separated Subdivision of NUBiP of Ukraine “Boyarka Forestry Research Station”

Spring reforestation campaign has been successfully completed at National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.
In 2012, the employees of Separated subdivision of NUBiP “Boyarka Forestry Research Station” together with the staff and students of the Education and Research Institute of Forestry and Park Gardening of NUBiP took part in developing new forest plantations. Representatives of other companies and organizations, and people who just could not remain indifferent to the state of natural landscapes on their native land joined the campaign.
On 3 April 2012, Separated subdivision of NUBiP “Boyarka Forestry Research Station” launched the campaign “Let us recreate forests together”. More that 200 students and 15 teachers of the Education and Research Institute of Forestry and Park Gardening, nine representatives of mass media, and 23 representatives of environmentally conscious companies (Tetra Pak Ukraine, PepsiCo Ukraine, Elopak Fastiv) joined the campaign. Over 70,000 seedlings of pine and oak trees were planted on the area of 10 hectares during the four-day campaign.
Over a short spring period 86.6 hectares of new forests were planted. Besides, forest plantations of previous years were extended to 208.7 hectares. Everybody who took part in developing new forests agreed that planting and regenerating forests is rather challenging, though important, since forests planted now guarantee a secure future for our children and grandchildren.
Keeping in mind global warming and the fact that 20 hectares of land disappear every minute and 8.5 million hectares disappear annually we firmly believe that all measures targeting on reforestation are significant.
The management and staff of the Separated subdivision of NUBiP “Boyarka Forestry Research Station” appreciate the contribution of every participant in the campaign.
We must remember that forests are lungs of our planet! And forests of the Separated subdivision of NUBiP “Boyarka Forestry Research Station” are lungs of Kyiv!
