ERASMUS+ STUDENT AND STAFF MOBILITY PROGRAMME
Erasmus+ is the European Union's programme for the period 2014-2020 supporting projects, partnerships, activities and mobility in the fields of education, training, youth and sport.
SOME NUMBERS
Opportunities for individuals:
- Two million higher education students will study and receive training abroad;
- 200,000 master's students will benefit from a new loan guarantee scheme and receive more than 25,000 scholarships for joint master's programmes;
- 500,000 young people will volunteer abroad and participate in youth exchanges;
- 800,000 lecturers, teachers, trainers, educators and youth policy workers will teach or conduct trainings abroad.
Higher education: main objectives
- Improving students' skills and employability and contributing to the competitiveness of the European economy;
- Improving the quality of teaching and learning;
- Implementation of the Strategy for the Modernisation of Higher Education in the programme countries and capacity building of partner countries;
- Strengthening the international dimension of the Erasmus+ programme;
- Supporting the Bologna Process and policy dialogue in strategic partner countries.
KEY ACTIVITY AREA - KA1: Mobility of students and staff in higher education
Objectives for students:
Provide more and better opportunities for students to develop skills and competences, attract the best talent from abroad
Key activities in this area:
- Credit mobility, including internships abroad: student mobility open to partner countries in both directions
- Degree mobility: exemplary joint Master's programmes offered by universities in Europe and, in some cases, in partner countries, attracting the best students from all over the world
- Student loan guarantees: enhancing mobility of Master's students in Europe (EU only)
Objectives for staff:
To provide more and better opportunities to improve the quality of teaching and learning
Key activities in the area:
- Teaching (staff secondment): development of innovative teaching methods, mobility open to partner countries in both directions
- Professional development: improvement of skills and competences of teaching and administrative staff, open to partner countries in both directions
- Invitation of employees of enterprises: to increase the relevance of the curriculum
