History of the Department
Until 2009, the Department of Processes and Equipment for Agricultural Production Processing was called the Department of Mechanization the Processing and Storage of Agricultural Products. It was created in June 1994 at the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization in purpose to improve the training of engineers for the processing industry and due to the transition of agricultural production to market relations. It became necessary for future mechanical engineers to study new machines that ensure high-quality processing of agricultural products and bring them to a final competitive state. At that time, the Department was a structural subdivision of the Technical Scientific-Educational Institute of NULES of Ukraine. Since 2009, the Department has become an educational and scientific unit of dual subordination and was a part of the Technical Scientific-Educational Institute and Scientific-Educational Institute of Quality and Standardization of Food Products and Food Technologies. In the spring of 2010, the Department became a structural subdivision of the Ukrainian Educational and Scientific Institute for the Quality of Bioresources and Life Safety. After optimizing the structure of the University in 2015, the Department became a structural subdivision of the Faculty of Food Technology and Quality Control of Agricultural Products.
The first Head of the Department was Professor Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Dacyshyn (1994-2009), Academician of the National Academy of Sciences, Honored Worker of Public Education of Ukraine, awarded with the "Badge of Honor" Order, The Excellence in Ukrainian Education, The Excellence in Agrarian Education and Science 1st degree.
From March to August 2009, the Department was temporarily headed by Associate Professor Viktor V. Sarana. From August 2009 to March 2020, the Department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Yury Hryhorovych Sukhenko, an Excellent Teacher in Education in Ukraine. Currently, the Department is headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Volodymyr P. Vasyliv.
