The first step into student life: the induction ceremony for first-year students of the Faculty of Agrobiology
One of the most eagerly awaited events of the academic year took place at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine — the ceremonial induction of first-year students into the Faculty of Agrobiology. A new generation of motivated, ambitious and conscientious young people has officially become part of the close-knit agrobiology family.
The event began with a solemn fanfare and the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine. Those present observed a minute’s silence to honour the memory of the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, graduates, students and lecturers who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our country. A particularly moving moment of the ceremony was the address by Stanislav Vitaliyovych OVERCHENKO, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war and a soldier of the 24th Separate Assault Brigade’s ‘Aidar’ Battalion. His wise guidance, unbreakable spirit and courage served as a key guide for the first-year students on how to study, work and build their own country.
Serhiy Mykolayovych KVASHA, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Development, Doctor of Economics, Professor and Academician of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, addressed the first-year students with a welcoming speech and expressed his faith in the new generation of agronomists. Vladimir Mykolayovych ZAVGORODNY, Head of the Faculty of Agrobiology, welcomed the new intake to the faculty and wished them confidence as they set out to scale the heights of scientific achievement. Yurii Vasylovych DEMTSYURA, Chair of the Faculty’s Employers’ Council, also joined in the congratulations, emphasising the importance of combining fundamental knowledge with practical experience at leading agricultural enterprises. Tetyana Ivanivna USCHAPIVSKA, Head of the Department of Analytical and Bioinorganic Chemistry and Water Quality, delivered words of encouragement on behalf of the teaching staff. On behalf of the first-year students’ self-government, Yelizaveta Kurgan, Chair of the Faculty Student Organisation Senate, extended her greetings. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by creative and musical performances, including renditions of the songs ‘8 Colours’, ‘Chervona Ruta’ and the famous Faculty Anthem ‘Agronomist – Son of the Earth’, performed by Vitalii Leonidovych Zhemoyda.
During the event, the first-year students were officially introduced to their academic and student mentors — academic tutors and student mentors — who will help the 16 new academic groups settle into university life:

The highlight of the formal part of the event was the ceremony for taking the NUBiP Ukraine Student Oath, which was read out on behalf of the entire first-year cohort by Stanislava CHEREPAHA and Maksym KYSLYUK. The students proclaimed the traditional ‘We swear!’ in unison, confirming their readiness to study diligently, uphold the university’s traditions and work for the good of Ukraine. After the official programme had concluded, having taken a group photo on the steps of the academic building, the first-year students, together with their tutors and student mentors, dispersed to their lecture theatres. During these first tutorial sessions, the students had the opportunity to get to know one another better in the cosy atmosphere of their groups, undergo compulsory briefings on health and safety and procedures to follow during an air-raid alert, and discuss the initial organisational aspects of the academic year. We congratulate the first-year students of the Faculty of Agrobiology on the start of this exciting new chapter in their lives! May their years of study be filled with unforgettable experiences, achievements and lasting student friendships!
Long live the Faculty of Agrobiology! Long live the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine! Long live Ukraine!
