History

The Department of Heat and Power Engineering traces its pedigree from the Department of Heat Engineering, Hydraulics and Wind Turbines, founded in 1952 as part of the Kiev Agricultural Institute.

Great merit in the development of the Department of Hydraulics and Heat Engineering belongs to the first head of the Department of Hydraulics and Heat Engineering, Associate Professor D.Y. Melnychenko, as well as the then team of teachers: associate professors A.D. Berkut, B.H. Draganov, M.V. Lavrentiev, assistants V.M. Sinyavsky, V.S. Sydorenko. In subsequent years, the department was headed by: Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Prof. Dr. Lyubov. M.S. Vysgo (1967 - 1972), prof. B.H. Draganov (1972 - 1987). During these years, associate professors A.V. Gorelkin, P.P. Kubyshkin, A.A. Labutin, Y.M. Tolubinsky, A.I. Kuznetsov, V.S. Palchevsky, O.T. Karpus, S.A. Kovalev, assistants: V.M. Korobko, M.M. Cherinko, A.F. Vengrenovsky, E.G. Rudyk, A.V. Mishchenko, M.M. Nezhinskaya, Y.M. Sergienko, P.A. Vasiliev, A.A. Marchenko, S.F. Kurylo worked at the department. In connection with the beginning of the training of engineers in the new specialty "Energy supply of agriculture" in 1990, the Department of Heat and Power Engineering was established (headed by Associate Professor M.M. Nedelko). During 1991-2003, the Department of Heat and Power Engineering was headed by Associate Professor V.O. Lazorenko. From 2003 to 2010, the head of the department was Associate Professor A.V. Mishchenko. During this period, the department significantly strengthened the material and technical base, became the leader among related departments in the preparation of bachelors and masters in the seciality "Energy of agricultural production".

Since 2019, the department has been training specialists in the specialty 144 "Heat and Power Engineering".
