APTIS: Assess Your English Level

With the assistance of the dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Pedagogy, professor Vasil Shynkaruk, a joint project with the British Council and the Scientific and Practical Center “Dzherelo” (the official representative of the British Council) to improve the level of English proficiency among lecturers of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine continues.

   On November 12, 2019, at the base of the Faculty of Humanities and Pedagogy, testing of lecturers of the Department of English for technical and agrobiological specialties was conducted to determine their English language level using the electronic test format APTIS (British Council).

    APTIS is an innovative tool for assessing the level of English proficiency in the international context. The exam is included in the list of international tests recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to confirm the English-speaking competence; the certificate (levels B2 – C) is recognized when forming a package of documents for obtaining the scientific title of an associate professor / a professor. APTIS is an effective, flexible and accurate system for the strategic testing of language (vocabulary, grammar) and speech (listening, reading, writing, speaking) competencies. The computer version of the exam allows you to get results quickly (on average within seven days); therefore, this type of international testing in English is considered as the optimal tool for controlling the quality of language education in higher educational establishments.

     The Department of English for technical and agrobiological specialties runs English courses to prepare for the international exam in English – APTIS (levels B2 – C). The teachers of the English language courses are highly qualified and experienced specialists with the corresponding APTIS certificates.
