Vyacheslav Annenkov: Studying German at European partner universities is superb
I am really glad that I have accepted the proposal of the Head of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation of NUBiP of Ukraine, Svitlana M. Amelina, to take part in German summer course at the University of Pardubice from August 12 to August 23, 2019. A pleasant aspect was that all the expenses were covered by the host side.
I have never been to the Czech Republic before, so I haven’t had any knowledge of its language and culture. When I arrived, I was met by Associate Professor of the University of Pardubice, Jan Čapek, who helped me with accommodation in the hostel and the wireless Internet. We communicated in German, and he was extremely nice to me.
On the first day, I got acquainted with my group mates. There were 14 students in the group (3 from Spain, 4 from Ukraine, 7 from the University of Pardubice). From the first minutes of our acquaintance we formed a friendly relationship. And it was very hard to part at the end.
The teaching was very professional and every student received a lot of new knowledge and experience.
The course would not have been complete without the excursions conducted in German by the university teachers. We visited several cities of the Czech Republic: Hradec Kralove, Kunetický Hora, Kutná Hora, Prague and Pardubice. All of them left unforgettable impressions!
It was a great pleasure to speak German with teachers in an informal setting. We discussed our lives, hobbies, Ukraininan and European future and many other topics. The course ended with a visit to Čajovna Chelsea summer terrace in Pardubice.
I sincerely advise all NUBiP students to take part in German summer course at the University of Pardubice at least once during their studies. Department of Foreign Philology and Translation and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Pedagogy Vasyl Shynkaruk will definitely support you!
