Anastasia Lobas, head of the 8th group, 2nd year of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – "On February 24, a full-scale invasion of the Rashists began in our country, which not only changed our life to "before and after", but also our attitude to ordinary things. The question of how, regardless of the feeling of constant anxiety, organize your studies and life in general.
Despite all these circumstances, over time, we adapted to the extreme conditions of the martial law and were able to start training in face-to-face format and continue it in remote (mixed format). In my opinion, it was a good idea, because we are being trained as veterinarians, who must save the lives of animals and are responsible for the safety of mankind. Veterinary medicine and its development require classroom practical work in a laboratory, clinic, hospital, where first, there is a unique opportunity to master the necessary practical skills of examining animals, the peculiarities of working with them and studying their organism. Then, the theoretical material is better perceived.
The distance learning format is not so colorful, active, full of impressions, but, nevertheless, it gives us the opportunity to continue our studies despite the existing danger, which is truly inspiring and, step by step, brings us closer to the realization of our dream - to be a high-quality specialist in the veterinary field.
Anyone who wants to learn will do so under any conditions. On my own example, I must admit that it is not a very pleasant practice to study for safety during an alarm in the basement of the shelter, but the thirst for learning destroyed all my fears and doubts.
I am proud that since the new academic year, our university has not given up and resumed studies full of fighting spirit. I am glad that I got to the walls of my native educational building of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine again and had the opportunity to communicate with classmates whom I had not seen for so long. At the same time, I met and got to know new teachers and new interesting subjects. All this also encouraged and reassured me.
During this fall semester, I learned a lot of new things. Conducted experiments in several disciplines, for example, in laboratory classes in the discipline "Biochemistry of animals". For me, this invaluable experience of practical work in a modern biochemical laboratory is important, having the opportunity to conduct chemical reactions and analyze the results myself, accompanied by experienced teachers, and to connect them with biochemical processes in the living organism of animals. In my opinion, the subject "Biochemistry of animals" in combination with other disciplines is very important, because the chemical composition of cells, tissues and internal organs of animals and the chemical processes characteristic of their organism, which ensure its vital activity, are studied. This is fundamental knowledge, which is an important component of the profession of a veterinary medicine doctor, therefore it is more appropriate to master this science in an eye-to-eye format.
The period of full-time study this year inspired me in a special way, because in such a difficult time, we once again proved, first, to ourselves, that we are able not to get lost, but to act in extreme study conditions together with the entire motivated team of NUBiP of Ukraine!
Every day the country experiences heavy blows from the occupiers, but we find a way out even here. Everyone must pass their own test, and the main thing is its result. Today, the test for students is studying without electricity! It is hard to believe that we have returned to the times when we must stay without power and the "Internet" network for a long time. But still, eager to learn, each of us finds every opportunity to work, supporting each other. In the evening, when it is already dark outside the windows, when the candles are lit, we find our romance in this and full of hope, we continue to study diligently.
I wish every student not to lose the fire in their eyes and the thirst for learning. Overcoming all obstacles, you will become professionally trained veterinarians! And our work and perseverance will undoubtedly bring Victory and a happy and prosperous future closer! Glory to Ukraine!"
P.S. Professor Viktoriya Hryshchenko - "In any matter, the most important thing is to take the first step, and then insecurity and fears recede into the background. First you need to gain Victory over yourself, and then it will come to our lives and to our native Ukraine soon! Let's be strong in spirit and responsible in their actions!"
