The Department of Foreign Philology and Translation was established in 2012 after the reorganization of the Department of Romanic and Germanic Languages and Translation. The history of the Department dates back to 1973 when the Department of German and French Languages was founded under the head of PhD in Philology, Associate Professor G.M. Dyma. Since 1988, the Department was headed by PhD in Philology, Associate Professor L.O. Homenko. Currently the Department is headed by Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor S.M. Amelina.

The main goal of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation is to provide training for Bachelor’s Degree in Philology as well as training in German and French for full-time and part-time students for Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in following directions of study: Economic specialty, Marketing, International Management, Law, Agronomy, Fruit and Vegetable Growing, Veterinary Medicine, Forestry and Park Gardening, Forestry and Wood Processing Technologies, Food Technology and Engineering, Water Bioresources and Aquaculture, The Processes, Machines and Equipment of Agricultural Production, Mechanical Engineering, Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies, Electrical Engineering, Transportation Technology.
