Training concept
The training of bachelors in the specialty "Philology" is conditioned by the need for translation of scientific and technical literature and documentation of agrobiological, engineering and technological, forestry, ecological direction, in the field of product quality and safety research, veterinary inspection, agrarian business, agrarian economy, etc.
Practical training
Practical training is an integral part of the preparation process and is carried out in accordance with the schedule of the educational process directly at certified practice bases, including: institutions and enterprises of agrarian and environmental protection profiles of all forms of ownership that have translation departments; science and research institutes and laboratories; translation agencies; secondary education institutions.
Academic rights of graduates
They can continue their studies in specialties and on the grounds of educational (educational-professional or educational-scientific) master's training programs, the names of which are listed in table 1.2 of section 1.3 of this Catalogue.
Areas of employment of graduates
A bachelor of philology can translate scientific and technical (agrarian) and business literature, provide consulting on translation issues, and can work in translation bureaus, organizations of industrialists and entrepreneurs, professional and social organizations, and printing agencies. A graduate can also work as a foreign language teacher in comprehensive schools.

Introduction to Translation Studies. Translation activity, types, history of development of translation theories in Ukraine and abroad, theory and classification of translation units, lexical, grammatical, lexical-grammatical and syntactic transformations; stylistic characteristics of idioms, proverbs and sayings, slang, phrasal verbs and set colloquial expressions.
Introduction to Language Studies. The main questions of the course, taking into account the modern state of linguistic science: general information about language and language studies as a science, the nature and essence of language, its origin, patterns of development and functioning at different historical stages, the origin and development of writing, genealogical and typological classification of languages, structural levels and language units, etc.
Latin. Formation of knowledge of the basics of the Latin language, formation of abilities and skills in the translation of Latin texts and the use of Latin terminology in educational, scientific and production activities.
Fundamentals of Information Technologies and Applied Linguistics. Design features and technical characteristics of modern personal computers and peripheral equipment, their use for linguistic research and translation.
History of Foreign Literature. Formation of reading culture, creative abilities, critical thinking, skills of analysis and reasoned evaluation of what has been read, raising the general level of culture, free orientation in a variety of literary phenomena.

Practical Course in the English Language. Formation of knowledge in phonetics, vocabulary, practical grammar, formation of skills in listening, reading and literary standardized oral and written speech.
Practical Course in the Second Foreign Language. Formation of knowledge in phonetics, vocabulary, practical grammar, formation of skills in listening, reading and literary standardized oral and written speech.
Practical Course in English Translation and Interpreting. Basics of the theory and practice of written and oral two-way translation, translation transformations, non-equivalent vocabulary, types of semantic equivalents, contextual meanings of lexical units, types of semantic equivalents, style factor.
Practical Grammar of the English Language. Mastering the grammatical system of a foreign language, forming skills in recognizing, understanding and rendering grammatical forms orally and in writing.
Practical Phonetics of the English Language. The course of phonetics of the modern English language provides students with general acquaintance with the characteristics of phonemes, with sound changes in the speech flow (accommodation, assimilation, dissimilation, alternation, simplification, prolonging, prosthesis, epenthesis, metathesis). Emphasis, practical composition, intonation. Students learn theoretical material, develop practical skills of phonetic-phonological transcription and phonetic text analysis.
History of the English Language. Processes of formation and development of the language and its structure, characteristic features in the past, similarities with other languages of the same language family, its specific features.
General Theoretical Course of the English Language. The structure of philological science and its theoretical basics. Theoretical phonetics. Theoretical grammar.
Computer Lexicography and Translation. It is aimed at acquainting students with the current state of lexicography and establish the connection between computer lexicography and translation. The course implies mastering the basic concepts of computer lexicography; study of types, kinds and structure of electronic dictionaries; features of their use and compilation.
Country Studies of English-speaking Countries. Linguistic units that reflect the national features of the country's culture, the formation of students' communicative competence in acts of intercultural communication through adequate perception of the interlocutor's language and original texts.
Aspect Translation of Agrarian Literature. Theoretical basics of translation of texts on agrarian topics, methods of adequate rendering various types of terminology characteristic of agrarian literature, formation of skills for performing adequate translation.
Stylistics of the English Language and Interpretation of the Text. The essence of language stylistics, speech and text stylistics, the functioning of language units in the language system, functional styles and their characteristics, criteria, methods of analysis and text interpretation.
Literature of English-speaking Countries. Periodization of English-language literature, the embodiment of the characteristic features of each era in the works of eminent authors, the connection of literature with general European development trends, the authentic nature of the works of English-language authors.
Methodology of Foreign Language Teaching. Goals, content, principles of teaching foreign languages; methods, techniques and forms of teaching; planning the educational process while teaching a foreign language; technologies of the formation of language and speech competences at the level determined by current normative papers.

Critical Thinking. Development in students of an attitude to improve the quality of their thinking, improvement of certain mental abilities and skills, readiness to use these abilities both in educational activities and in everyday life.
General Language Studies. The main aspects of the theory of language: the symbolic nature, the structure of language, the connection between language and thinking, the relationship between language and speech, phonological, grammatical, lexical-semantic systems; social nature, social functions of language, social conditioning of linguistic phenomena.
Comparative Lexicology of the English and Ukrainian Languages. Theoretical foundations of lexicology and lexicography, practical use of language units in the communicative process, formation of lexical skills and abilities.

Fundamentals of Social Projecting. Students study the basics of social projecting, acquire skills in using the acquired knowledge for effective implementation of project solutions in practical activities.
Ethnocultural studies, ethics and aesthetics. Orientation in ethnocultural scientific problems, providing an idea of the systematicity of ethnocultural analysis, deepening the skills of cultural analysis of ethnic cultures, familiarization with the main trends and forms of ethnocultural development of the Ukrainian people from ancient times to the present.
Scientific and technical translation. Solving grammatical, lexical, terminological and genre-stylistic tasks, methods and techniques of translation of certain phenomena of science and technology.
Semantic and Stylistic Problems of Branch Text Translation: a Cycle of Natural Sciences; a Cycle of Technical Sciences. A system of theoretical knowledge and specific regularities of adequate translation of language units (words, word combinations, phraseological units, free phrases specific by their structural form, sentences, text; familiarization with the semantic and stylistic problems of translating texts in the following fields: natural sciences, technical specialties, economic specialties.

Fundamentals of Situational Communication (the Polish Language). Formation of knowledge of the basics of phonetics, vocabulary, grammar and stylistics of the Polish language, formation of skills and abilities to translate authentic Polish texts. Stylistics of the German Language and Interpretation of the Text. The essence of language stylistics, speech and text stylistics, the functioning of language units in the language system, functional styles and their characteristics, criteria, methods of analysis and text interpretation.
Literature of German-speaking Countries. Periodization of German-language literature, the embodiment of the characteristic features of each era in the works of eminent authors, the connection of literature with general European development trends, the authentic nature of the works of German-language authors.
Methodology of Foreign Language Teaching. General Language Studies. The main aspects of the theory of language: the symbolic nature, the structure of language, the connection between language and thinking, the relationship between language and speech, phonological, grammatical, lexical-semantic systems; social nature, social functions of language, social conditioning of linguistic phenomena.
Comparative Lexicology of the German and Ukrainian Languages. Theoretical foundations of lexicology and lexicography, practical use of language units in the communicative process, formation of lexical skills and abilities.

Practical Course in the Second Foreign Language Translation. Basics of the theory and practice of written two-way translation, translation transformations, non-equivalent vocabulary, types of semantic equivalents, contextual meanings of lexical units.
Fundamentals of Social Projecting. Students study the basics of social projecting, acquire skills in using the acquired knowledge for effective implementation of project solutions in practical activities.
Ethnocultural studies, ethics and aesthetics. Orientation in ethnocultural scientific problems, providing an idea of the systematicity of ethnocultural analysis, deepening the skills of cultural analysis of ethnic cultures, familiarization with the main trends and forms of ethnocultural development of the Ukrainian people from ancient times to the present.
Scientific and technical translation. Solving grammatical, lexical, terminological and genre-stylistic tasks, methods and techniques of translation of certain phenomena of science and technology.
Semantic and Stylistic Problems of Branch Text Translation: a Cycle of Natural Sciences; a Cycle of Technical Sciences. A system of theoretical knowledge and specific regularities of adequate translation of language units (words, word combinations, phraseological units, free phrases specific by their structural form, sentences, text; familiarization with the semantic and stylistic problems of translating texts in the following fields: natural sciences, technical specialties, economic specialties.

Fundamentals of Situational Communication (the Polish Language). Formation of knowledge of the basics of phonetics, vocabulary, grammar and stylistics of the Polish language, formation of skills and abilities to translate authentic Polish texts. Orthographic, morphological, lexical, stylistic, syntactic and punctuation norms of the modern Polish literary language; genres of official and non-official communication and their main communicative features; the culture of dialogic and political speech.
Analytical Thinking. Development of the ability to understand the essence of an event, situation, problem. Analysis of the problem, tracing the prerequisites, analysis of causes and consequences. Forecasting the development of the situation, structuring and evaluating information.
Terminology Studies. The main stages of the development of branch terminological systems and terminology studies, ways and main means of creating terms, the pragmatic meaning of terminological units.
Comparative Grammar of the German and Ukrainian Languages. Typological features of the foreign and Ukrainian languages, grammatical structures of the compared languages, establishment of common features and differences in systems of grammatical categories of different parts of the speech, systems of syntactic units.
Psychology. General questions of psychology, peculiarities of mental development in phylo- and ontogenesis, driving forces of mental development, mental processes, mental states and personality peculiarities.
Practical Course in The Second Foreign Language Interpreting. Basics of the theory and practice of two-way interpreting, types of interpreting, consecutive oral translation and its features.
Business German. Formation of communicative, linguistic and sociocultural competence for effective use in various situations of social and business communication.
Ethics of the Translator. Acquaintance with the basic principles of ethical behavior of an oral and written translator, the code of ethics of translators, for the translation of texts of various functional styles, acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge regarding ethical guidelines in the activity of a translator.
Translation of Social and Political Texts. Genre-stylistic features of socio-political texts, translation of socio-political realities, application of transformations in the translation of socio-political texts.
