On July 25, 2025, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP) hosted the Summer School on Geodesy and Land Management— a large-scale educational event that gathered over 150 first- and second-year students of the Faculty of Land Management, more than 20 prospective applicants, and two student teams from the Rivne Professional College of NUBiP and the Institute of Geodesy of Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Participants had a unique opportunity to engage with leading experts in land management and geodesy, explore cutting-edge equipment and software, and take part in interactive competitions, thematic quests, and hands-on fieldwork.
The event was officially opened by Taras IEVSIUKOV, Dean of the Faculty of Land Management, who emphasized the growing role of land professionals in the context of digital transformation, open data, e-governance, and Ukraine’s post-war recovery. He encouraged students to use the Summer School experience to develop practical skills and shape their professional goals.
Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Oksana TONKHA conveyed greetings from the university’s rector, Professor Vadym TKACHUK, highlighting the importance of learning through practice and the role of technology in modern education.
The event featured welcoming remarks from key industry leaders, including:
- Anatolii POLTAVETS, Chair of the Faculty Employers’ Council and Head of the All-Ukrainian Association of Land Management Specialists;
- Roman GUMENYAK, Deputy Director of the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure Development Department, StateGeoCadastre;
- Andrii MARTYN, Head of the Department of Land Use Planning;
- Oleksii KUTSENKO, Deputy Chair of the Association of Certified Surveyors of Ukraine.
Employers and company representatives from GEOFIX, EINav, Kyivstar, DroneUA, and others introduced participants to modern geodetic tools and held engaging lectures on advanced surveying technologies.
Students then participated in a series of competitions testing speed, accuracy, and ingenuity:
- Geodetic quest winners: Oleksandr MYRONETS and Oleksandr KOTSUR;
- Orienteering challenge: Artem DANUTSA;
- Total station setup: Dmytro LAGODNY and Bohdan ZAIKYA (1:22 min);

- Angle measurement: Bohdan ILKIV and Angelina OKSENYIUK (Institute of Geodesy);
- Geoquest «Find the boundary!»: Anastasiia KLOS and Sofia UHNIVENKO.
The sports section brought additional excitement, with competitions in mini-football, rope jumping, and pull-ups. The mini-football tournament saw the Faculty staff and employers team claim first place. Alina LYNCHAK won the rope-jumping contest with 134 jumps in one minute, and the pull-up title was shared by Serhii LUKAVSKYI and Bohdan ILKIV (24 times each).
Winners received prizes from the Association of Land Management Specialists of Ukraine, the Association of Certified Surveyors of Ukraine, and GEOFIX. Awards were presented by Deputy Dean Oleksandr SHEVCHENKO and Employers’ Council member Serhii HALAS.
The Summer School left a lasting impression on all participants, inspiring future land professionals and strengthening ties between education and the labor market.
