Faculty of Agrarian Management

History of the Faculty of Agrarian Management

  With the acquisition of independence of Ukraine, there was a need to train specialists capable of managing the economy in market conditions, in particular, its powerful agricultural sector. The transformation and structural restructuring of all industries and sectors of the economy was accompanied by a severe crisis and uncertainty at that time. However, leading scientists and educators accepted the challenge and undertook the training of specialists who are already determining the economic strategy of Ukraine today.
   Thus, in view of the need to train managers of a new type, on July 1, 1995, by decision of the Academic Council of the National Agrarian University (now - NULES of Ukraine), the Faculty of Agrarian Management was created by separating it from the Faculty of Economics.
The main goal of the faculty was to provide training of specialists in the areas of "Management" and "Economics and entrepreneurship" in such specialties as "Management of organization", "Management of foreign economic activities", "Economic cybernetics", "Marketing" and "Administrative management".
  The management of the new faculty in 1995 was entrusted to the Dean of the Faculty of Agrarian Management, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, Professor Valerii P. Galushko. Very soon, thanks to his ideas and the support of the team, the faculty became one of the leaders in the training of management specialists in Ukraine and the absolute leader in the training of agricultural management specialists.
   The chosen course on the development of the faculty was supported by the staff of the faculty and improved by the followers of the first dean of the Faculty of Agrarian Management S. Mykhailov, O. Kovtun, A. Dibrova, S. Rogach, I. Okhrimenko. Each of them brought something new and positive to the activities of the Faculty of Agrarian Management, strengthening it and adapting it to new challenges and conditions.
  In particular, since 2003, the faculty has launched two MBA programs (full-time – in partnership with Weinstefan University of Applied Sciences (Germany); part-time – in partnership with Wageningen University (Netherlands), Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland), Slovak Agrarian University in Nitra, the Czech University of Life Sciences and other partner universities, in particular, those with ACQUIN and ICA international accreditations.
   Since 2014, the position of dean of the faculty has been held by Anatolii D. Ostapchuk, PhD, Associate Professor.
  Paying tribute to the hard work of professors, the faculty under his leadership demonstrates coherence and purposefulness in achieving high indicators in educational and scientific, international and sports work, academic mobility, social security, leisure time, participation of students and professors in all-Ukrainian and university events, taking into account the best experience of partner universities with the use of innovative technologies.
  Taking into account the needs of the market and fruitful work with stakeholders, new educational programs were opened and implemented, namely:
- the educational program "Management of investment activity and international projects" for academic degree "Master" is a response to the needs of the market for project managers;
- since 2018, opportunities for studying at the master's and bachelor's level with 100% teaching of subjects in English for foreign students have been opened;
- since 2019, a new master's program for the training of senior medical personnel "Management of health care institutions" has been opened;

This training program can be considered a program of the future, as students undergo meaningful practical training that allows them to become active participants in agricultural business during their studies.
  In 2021, the faculty was recognized as one of the best faculties for training management specialists in Ukraine and entered the rankings of Forbes magazine, taking the tenth position.
