Department of Pathology and Therapy of internal non-communicable diseases of farm animals and the Department of Clinical diagnosis were established in September 1922 as part of Kiev Veterinary Institute, which in 1932 were combined into a single structure.

From 1999 to 2012 head of the department of clinical diagnosis and therapy was Sc.D., Professor M.Tsvilihovskyy.

From 2005 to 2008 the acting head of the department of clinical diagnosis and therapy is the candidate of veterinary sciences, associate professor S.Holopura.

In 2008 head of the department of clinical diagnosis and therapy is a Sc.D., Professor V. Grishchenko.

From 2008 to 2012 head of the department of clinical diagnosis and therapy was Sc.D., Professor M.Tsvilihovskyy.

From 2015 head of the department of clinical diagnosis and therapy is the candidate of veterinary sciences, associate professor V. Kostenko.

The department conducted research to develop treatments of stakhibotriotoxicosis and dendro-dohiotoksycosis, study of horses with clinical signs of colic, proventriculus injuries in cattle, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases of young farm animals.

In recent years the department has successfully conducted a study of animal microelementosis, molecular mechanisms of formation of functional activity in the intestines of animals in the early postnatal period under normal and under pathology, development of rapid methods for early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of metabolic pathologies in farm and domestic animals, functional state of the sport horse and development of methods for their recovery after intense exercise, molecular mechanisms of the formation of immune resistance of the newborn animals; natural resistance and ways of improving natural resistance in animals, the impact of UV-irradiated blood in animals with different diseases, development of new therapeutic and prophylactic drugs with immune stimulating effect, created on the basis of biogenic compounds of trace elements; development of methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of internal diseases using the latest technology in veterinary medicine, the development of methods, instruments and equipment for remote diagnostics clinical signs in animals.
