About the institute

    The Educational and Research Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management began its history in Marimont (Poland) before 1861, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (2008 to the present). On 29 June 2001, two faculties of NUBiP of Ukraine, Forestry and Landscape Architecture, were merged into the Educational and Research Institute of Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management (ERI Forestry and Landscape Architecture). Since 2015, the Institute has been functioning as a unified structure of faculties within the NUBiP of Ukraine. From the beginning of the establishment of the Institute, its directors were: Prof. Victor Maurer (2001-2002), Prof. Petro Lakyda (2002-2004, 2005-2023), Prof. Anatoly Tsilyuryk (2004), Prof. Vasil Yuhnovskyi (2004-2005), and now the director is Roman Vasylyshyn (since 2023).
     The Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management of the NUBiP is a leading center of forestry education with more than 180 years of history. The institute ensures the organization of a continuous and holistic educational process of training specialists in the following specialties: ‘Forestry’, ‘Gardening and Park Management’, ‘Woodworking and Furniture Technologies’. The structure of the institute includes 6 departments:

    About 30 specialized training laboratories, research laboratories and innovation units, are both the basis for student training and research work. The Institute trains specialists for the forestry, landscape gardening and woodworking industries, capable of ensuring sustainable development of enterprises and ecological harmony of nature with the growing social requirements of society in the current conditions of European integration.
    Practical training of students is provided at the Institute's practical training bases at the Boyarka Forest Research Station, the Botanical Garden of the NUBiP, the training and production nursery, and the Research and Development Centre for Wood Processing Technologies and Equipment.
     The institute has established traditions of cultural and sports activities. The institute's football, basketball, and athletics teams are traditionally the best among the teams of universities in Kyiv and Ukraine. Student dormitory has a sports room and a youth club ‘Forest Fairy Tale’ where students hold themed evenings, discos, and concerts of amateur and professional artists.
