Project summary:
The goal of the German-Ukrainian University Network (DUAHN) project is to deepen, expand, and develop long-term cooperation between Ukrainian and German partners in key areas for Ukraine - the agricultural and food sectors.
The project involves the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (Germany), six leading Ukrainian agricultural universities and their 12 agricultural colleges.
Over the four years of the initiative, a number of measures will be implemented on the basis of already established partnerships to support the restoration and modernization of Ukrainian higher education institutions. Cooperation has reached a particular intensity within the framework of the DAAD project “Digitalization of Ukrainian Agricultural Higher Education Institutions” (2020-2024). This project directly involved 732 participants and another 538 indirectly. This has significantly improved the skills of Ukrainian educators in the field of digitalization.
The experience gained in previous projects, as well as the contacts established, have become a solid foundation for the implementation of new initiatives within DUAHN.
A key element of international cooperation is the International Master's in Agricultural Management (MAM), implemented by the Weihenstephan-Trident University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with Ukrainian partners (at NUBiP it is called “Administrative Management”). The program, which has existed for more than 30 years, promotes long-term and effective academic exchange.
One of the important activities of the program is the development of economic databases that are crucial for Ukraine's European integration processes.
Ukraine's agricultural and food sectors are currently facing serious challenges, including the war, difficulties in production and exports, and liquidity problems. The opening of the land market has led to significant changes in the ownership structure, which is particularly noticeable for small and medium-sized farms. The EU experience shows that these enterprises will play a key role in Ukraine's further integration into the European market.
Preparing agricultural universities and colleges to be active participants in this transformation process is a complex but extremely important task that the DUAHN network is focused on.
