The development of biochemistry of animals as a science and its place among the natural sciences
On February 9, 2017, Professor of the Department of Biochemistry Liliia Hryhorivna Kalachniuk was read at a high professional and methodical level in a good English language, an open lecture on discipline "Biochemistry of Animals with Fundamentals of Physical and Colloid Chemistry". The topic of the lecture was "Biochemistry of animals: History of development and place among the natural sciences" for students of the first year of study (7 group) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The material of the lecture was presented in an accessible form and logical sequence, qualitatively and understandable for students, and also - at a good pace and for using modern technical means. The lecturer throughout the classroom skillfully supported the discipline and interest of the audience.
L.H. Kalachniuk presented the main stages of the development of biochemistry, in particular, biochemistry of animals, and the role of foreign and Ukrainian scientists in the progress of biochemical science. The place and role of animal biochemistry among the natural sciences have been successfully highlighted. According to the students, the information on the biochemistry of animals with adjacent and applied sciences and the importance of assimilating biochemical terms (especially English-language) in the educational process were particularly interesting.
Students were briefed on the web pages of the Department of Biochemistry, academic achievements of Department staff and the possibilities of using informational resources during the educational process (electronic training courses in the English and Ukrainian languages), as well as informed about the possibility of joining the students scientific club "Studying molecular and biological mechanisms of metabolism regulation with advanced study of English biochemical terminology"(led by a lecturer) and prospects of the choice of studying for the degree of Master of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine under the program "Methods of Biochemical studies" of specialization "Laboratory business".
