On May 21, 2025, a working group meeting was held by Vita Strokal, coordinator of the Ukrainian part of the Path4Med project. The primary purpose of the meeting was to provide updates on the Ukrainian demonstration site DG3(Ukraine) "Future pathways for zero pollution in the Dnipro Basin under emerging challenges and threats", which is a platform for implementing innovative approaches to combat soil and water pollution.
At this meeting, Vita Strokal highlighted the achievements which the Ukrainian team gained. Specifically, she showed results of spring water sampling, which was conducted on 11-13 April. She noted that water samplings have been done during four seasons. That’s why she said the team can start analysing all measured water parameters.
The following achievement that Vita Strokal emphasised was scientific visibility. She introduced photos of the results of the presentation on the relationship between climate drivers and agriculture in Ukraine at the EGU-2025 Conference on April 30, 2025.
The next step is to organise soil sampling trips, which require communicating with local farmers and asking them about timing. Also, it is essential to make an interview questionnaire for farmers that covers issues related to water and soil pollution on their farms.
At the end of the meeting, she pointed out updates of the Ukrainian demo site where the team completed water sampling across all four seasons (2024–2025) in the Dnipro Basin, utilising portable devices to measure critical parameters (e.g., dissolved oxygen, conductivity, temperature); ensured comprehensive engagement with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and local farms (e.g., Farm "Kolos"), fostering interdisciplinary cooperation for sustainable water and soil management in Dnipro River Basin.
Vita Strokal proposed steps for next month and thanked the team for contributing to this project.
