LIFE-CET-BUSHROSSs Project: A New Stage in the Development of Vocational Education in Energy Efficiency
The renovation and improvement of energy efficiency of residential buildings are a strategic direction of the European Green Deal, since half of all energy resources used are spent on heat supply buildings. In the conditions of Ukraine, this issue becomes especially relevant due to the need to update not only the obsolete, but also largely destroyed as a result of the war construction stock.
As part of a previously agreed program, researchers from the Institute of Energy, Automation, and Energy Saving organized advanced training courses, enabling college educators to enhance their expertise in building energy efficiency.
As part of the training program, the participants got acquainted with the key principles of energy modernization of buildings, modern renewable energy technologies and the latest approaches to reducing energy consumption. Particular attention was paid to the practical aspects of implementing energy-efficient solutions that meet the requirements of the European Green Deal and contribute to the transition to sustainable development.
Associate Professor Olena Shelimanova from the Department of Power System Engineering delivered a key lecture titled "New Skills for Constructing Public Buildings with Nearly Zero Energy Consumption." The speaker presented the Project LIFE-CET-BUSHROSSs (Building Up Skills for Home Renovation One-Stop-Shops. This international project was initiated by leading European universities and institutions in Ireland, Bulgaria, Greece, Poland, Slovenia and Ukraine. The goal of the project is to help local authorities, development agencies and energy centers accumulate knowledge and create conditions for the functioning of one – stop – shop. This will simplify the process of energy modernization of residential buildings, providing comprehensive support to owners.

Olena Shelimanova invited the present college teachers to join the implementation of the Project's tasks. In particular, take part in a survey to identify the need for new professional skills in the field of building renovation. This will contribute to the development of modern training programs that will meet the current challenges and requirements of the labor market.

Such measures are an important step towards the introduction of innovative approaches to vocational education in Ukraine, ensuring its harmonization with European standards.
