THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY NAMED AFTER ACADEMICIAN M.F. GULYI IS CONFIDENTLY MOVING TOWARDS INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION

 Laboratory biosafety and biosecurity measures are an important component of laboratory and practical work aimed at protecting the health and life of veterinary and biomedical laboratory workers, public safety, animal health and welfare, and environmental safety from unintentional or intentional exposure to biological pathogenic agents.

Biosafety today is a field of knowledge that focuses on the latest advances in epidemiology, microbiology, immunology, biotechnology and other life sciences. To study biosafety issues, you need to have knowledge of biology, immunology, genetics, biochemistry and understand the biochemical processes that occur in the body of animals and humans and be aware of the concepts of normality and pathology.

On the way to the international accreditation of the faculty, all employees of the Department of Biochemistry named after Academician M.F. Gulyi, headed by the head of the department, Professor Viktor Tomchuk, are actively working to prepare the department for this responsible and important event. Laboratory furniture and fume hoods were updated, and metal cabinets for storing reagents were placed in the department's laboratories. Automatic liquid soap dispensers, electric hand dryers and paper towel boxes, as well as disinfectant solutions were installed. Hand washing instructions are posted. Biosafety instructions are posted at the entrance to each training laboratory. Each laboratory has a first aid kit and boxes for waste biological material.

Students are instructed on biosafety and sign the appropriate logs, and there are logs for temperature control of refrigerators.
