Biochemistry of animals with the basics of physical and colloid chemistry" is a mandatory component of the educational program "Veterinary Medicine" (211; degree of higher education - master's degree), which provides basic concepts regarding the chemical composition of the animal body, classification, functions of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, minerals substances, enzymes, hormones and vitamins. The main pathways of biochemical processes that ensure homeostasis, energy balance, growth and development of the animal organism are subject to study. Significant attention is paid to the study of the biochemical composition of biological fluids and tissues of the animal body and the processes that occur in them.
In the conditions of today's challenges, lecture and laboratory classes in the discipline "Animal biochemistry with the basics of physical and colloid chemistry" are held online and offline, respectively. The materials of lectures, laboratory classes, as well as the electronic version of methodological instructions for performing laboratory classes are presented in the ENC (https://elearn.nubip.edu.ua/course/view.php?id=587). Students use the printed "Methodical instructions and materials for conducting laboratory classes in the discipline "Animal biochemistry with the basics of physical and colloid chemistry" for students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine" (parts 1 and 2) by L.G. Kalachniuk, L.V. Klich, V.A. Tomchuk
As a result of studying the academic discipline, students acquire the following competencies:
· integral competences - the ability to solve complex tasks and problems in the field of veterinary medicine, which involves conducting research and/or implementing innovations and is characterized by the uncertainty of conditions and requirements;
· general competencies - 1) ability to abstract thinking, analysis and synthesis; 2) the ability to apply knowledge in practical situations; 3) the ability to evaluate and ensure the quality of performed works;
· professional competences - 1) the ability to use tools, special devices, instruments, laboratory equipment and other technical means to carry out the necessary manipulations during professional activity; 2) the ability to follow the rules of labor protection, asepsis and antiseptics during professional activity
Students also achieve program learning outcomes determine the essence of physico-chemical and biological processes that occur in the body of animals in normal and pathological conditions
Good luck in your studies, students!
