The importance of electronic document circulation in Ukraine is emphasized at the legislative level. Electronic document flow allows planning of enterprise activities, accounting and control at all stages of management. This, in turn, increases the stability of enterprises in crisis conditions and reduces risks in conditions of uncertainty.
In order to familiarize interested students with the issues of electronic document circulation and information protection with the help of an electronic signature, on October 25, 2023, the associate professor of the Department of Management named after Professor J. S. Zavadskyi, Oksana Havrysh within the activity of the student scientific DNA Leader Club organized an online meeting with Artem Kim – a representative of LLC “M.E.DOC”, a member of the software development team.
During the meeting, Artem Kim explained to the students the general issues of document circulation and its development in Ukraine, focused in more detail on the essence and meaning of an electronic document, its legal significance, and the stages of the electronic signature application process. The guest noted that without an electronic signature, any document is unprotected and can be easily intercepted and replaced during electronic data transmission.
Artem Kim told the members of club and others present the difference between QES and IES. He noted that the technology of the electronic signature is based on the correspondence of a pair of keys: secret (personal) and public. The document is signed with an electronic signature using a personal key that only the owner has. This secret key corresponds to a public key that can be used to verify the authenticity of the signature.
The members of club were particularly interested in the story about the essence and main properties of the hash function and document digest, which are the main concepts when encrypting any electronic document.
At the end of the meeting, Artem Kim focused on how every citizen of Ukraine can get his personal electronic signature and what are the purposes for using electronic keys.
The meeting took place in a positive atmosphere, students actively participated in the conversation and asked interesting questions to the speaker, to which they received thorough answers. The attendees expressed their sincere gratitude to Artem Kim for an extremely interesting and informative report and expressed their wishes for the organization of further meetings.
