Academic Council of humanitarians: the educational process today is a time of challenges and threats

On November 17, 2022 a meeting of the Academic Council of the faculty of humanities and pedagogy was held. The agenda included topical issues of the faculty's life in the crisis conditions of martial law.

 

Chairman of the Academic Council Inna Savytska started the meeting to provide information on the results of my activities of the FHP in November 2022; noted that the educational process today is a time of challenges and threats. At the same time Inna Mykolaivna thanked the faculty staff for making maximum efforts and hard work in ensuring the educational process in crisis conditions. The dean of the faculty informed about the organization of the defense of Master's theses, the results of holding by the department of philosophy and international communication, of the international scientific and practical conference "Spiritual code of Ukrainian identity in the dimension of intercultural communication" dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hryhoriy Skovoroda (November 10-11, 2022), etc.

 

Deputy dean Natalia Shevchenko reported on the organization of the educational process in crisis situations. In autumn of 2022, Ukraine suffered the destruction of critical infrastructure facilities, so the team of NULES of Ukraine has problems with the supply of electricity, there may also be problems with heating, communication, and so on. This affects the process of studying and the future of the winter exam session. Natalia Volodymyrivna presented the main and backup algorithms of actions for students in distance and full-time training; the procedure for actions of participants in the educational process during winter examination session 2022/2023 academic year, if there are power outages and other emergencies; and additional recommendations for the effective completion of the educational process.

 

Psychological aspects of teaching students in crisis situations were revealed by the professor of the department of psychology Vitaly Shmarhun who provided clear advice in dealing with the manifestations of stress in students and lecturers in crisis situations.

 

Participation in the discussion was taken by: the head of  the department of pedagogy Ruslan Sopivnyk, head of the department of Romance and Germanic languages and translation Maria Lychuk, professor of thedepartment of journalism and language communication Tetiana Semashko, which focused attention on the importance of understanding the algorithms of actions for students and instructors; the relevance of developing the order of actions of participants in the educational process during the training process winter exam session of
2022/2023 academic year.

 

 

Chairman of the Academic Council Inna Savytska focused the attention of the heads of departments both on the algorithm of actions of scientific and pedagogical workers if there is no electricity from the scientific and pedagogical worker at the place of his/her stay, and on the algorithm of actions if there is no electricity with students at their places of stay on the day of the exam.

 

Professor of the department of philosophy and international communication Vira Dodonova presented a scientific report on the topic "Transformation of Ukrainian values during the russian-Ukrainian war". The speaker's understanding of values was based on 3 most important aspects: as a socio-cultural concept, as a psychological-intersubjective, communicative phenomenon and in the aspect of an epistemological category; the transformation of Ukrainian values during the Russian-Ukrainian war and after its end was presented. The head of the department of pedagogy Ruslan Sopivnyk , professor of the department of psychology Vitaly Shmarhun, professor of the department of international relations and social sciences Volodymyr Kaluha, which is evidence of the relevance and urgency of the topic of the scientific report, took part in the discussion of the report.

  

Deputy dean for research Svitlana Kharchenko reported on scientific and innovative activities based on the results of 2022 and drew attention of the members of the Academic Council on focusing efforts on ensuring the effectiveness of scientific research and development, obtaining intellectual property protection documents; performing contractual topics; introducing the results of applied scientific research, their commercialization; activating the participation of lecturers and young scientists in the competition of fundamental and applied research projects and scientific and technical (experimental) developments of the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine; strengthening the preparation of gifted youth for participation in all-Ukrainian student Olympiads, student research competitions and other creative competitions; activation of publication of articles by research and teaching staff in the electronic databases Scopus and web of science.

 

 

 Chairman of the Academic Council Inna Savytska thanked the members of the Academic Council for the activity, advice and recommendations that were made at the meeting, and focused the attention of the members of the Academic Council on the tasks of organizing the educational process in December 2022, in particular on the specifics of the organization of winter examination session of 2022/2023 academic year.

 


Members of the Academic Council also considered other important issues of life activity of the faculty of humanities and pedagogy.
