First spring firefighter school NUBiP - 2021

During May 24-26, 2021, the staff of the Department of Forestry and Laboratory of Forest Pyrology of the Education and Research Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management of NUBiP of Ukraine conducted training for forest protection of Chernihiv region: "First spring firefighter school NUBiP - 2021". Forest Fire School is a theoretical and practical trainig course for senior management of state forestry enterprises. The exercises were conducted on "Boyarska Forest Experiment Station", Dzvinkove, Kyiv region.
The participants of the training were greeted by the director of the Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management Prof. Petro Lakyda, director of Boyarska Forest Experiment Station prof. Anatoliy Karpuk, director of the Research Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management prof. Roman Vasylyshyn, Head of the Department of Forest Protection and Protection of the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine Mykola Gontaruk, representative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
The director of the Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC) (Freiburg, Germany), prof. Johann Georg Goldammer also greeted the participants. During the speech prof. J.G. Goldammer presented the world trends of changes in fire conditions, and the best world experience in the system of protection of natural landscapes from fires.
Thirty-four leading specialists of state forest enterprises of the Chernihiv Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting, director and representatives of Desnyansko-Starogutsky National Nature Park, representatives of Drevlya Nature Reserve and the Main Directorate of the SES of Ukraine in Kyiv region took part in the training.
The trainings was held in the form of reports, practical classes, excursions, field and staff exercises. In field conditions, modern machinery and equipment for extinguishing forest fires were demonstrated and their effectiveness was tested.
At the final meeting, the participants noted the relevance of such exercises, the high level of teaching and practical orientation of the course, which will allow use gained knowledge and skills in forestries to prevent large forest fires in the Polissya region, Ukraine.
