A new analytical laboratory to apply AGMEMOD model has been opened in our university

January 31, 2018

Faculty of Economic Sciences has launched a new analytical laboratory AGMEMOD. It has become possible due to the cooperation between Germany-Ukraine agropolitical dialogue and is supported by Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany.

Volker Sasse, chairman of Germany-Ukraine agropolitical dialogue, underlines that the task of AGMEMOD is modeling the future development of an agrarian sector of Ukraine based on scenario of urgent political decisions. European Commission uses this model to gauge The Common Agricultural Policy and utilizes the model of partial balance. Thus, AGMEMOD enables analysts to make right political decisions.

Serhii Kvasha, vice-rector for educational and scientific activities, greeted project participants on behalf of rector Stanislav Nikolaienko and said that this cooperation is unique. And today we are witnessing real and positive changes and these are due to AGMEMOD.

Andrii Kinshchak thanked Mister Sasse and his team on behalf of Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Stefan Huber, a representative of Federal Ministry of Agriculture of Germany, said that we cannot predict the future using AGMEMOD. But, without any doubt, we can make precise predictions on the basis of economic and mathematical analysis. AGMEMOD is likely to become a significant component of academic process and research. First, students have got a tool which helps them understand causes and rationale of political decisions in the agrarian sector of economy. Second, it enables them to design a scenario of the development of agrarian policy of the country. Third, the university becomes more significant as a consultant of politics and business and in the society.

Ihor Burakovskyi, head of Institute of Economic Research and Agricultural Consultations also thanked the developers of this model. He says that it pleases when hard work yields success and is beneficial when making political decisions.

Mariia Bohonos suggests we use the title What If to name AGMEMOD because it is projected to evaluate consequences of decisions. It is not easy to model agrarian policy but it is twice as pleasant because NUBiP of Ukraine has all resources to do it accurately. In M. Bohonos’s words, “when I started this work, Ukraine was presented in AGMEMOD to such an extent so that European participants could calculate their models. I am sure that our country should develop our own «Agrarian prospects» by means of AGMEMOD and integrate them into European ones.”

It is also beneficial for scientists and researchers because it is a good ground for publishing scientific programs and articles in international journals.

When we just started the course of AGMEMOD, which had been initiated by dean of Faculty of Economic Sciences, we did not expect it to be so effective. Its graduates can work with this model individually and transfer the knowledge to others. Without any doubt, much work has been done by teachers and postgraduate students, such as Valeriia Selivestr, Maryna Pavlenko, Anna Yakymovska, Iryna Cheban, and Alla Chmil. They are awarded with certificates.

Global Economy Department has launched an analytical laboratory AGMEMOD. We believe that we will not only teach graduates and postgraduates but together with faculty staff of ERI of Continuing Education we plan to train teachers of other educational establishments and governmental people. We will develop our vision of the development of agropolicy, design our models.

Mariia Bohonos and Volker Sasse presented Faculty of Economic Sciences with a symbolic CD with AGMEMOD.
