European recognition: report on the results of international accreditation of the faculty of veterinary medicine approved

On June 12 and 13, with the support of the rector, the president and the entire leadership of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, the delegation of the faculty of veterinary medicine took part in the 38th General Assembly of higher educational institutions in veterinary medicine under the leadership of the dean of the faculty Mykola TSVILIKHOVSKY.
The delegation included the head of the department of internal diseases of animals Natalia HRUSHANSKA, associate professor of the department of veterinary epidemiology and animal health Olexandr MARTYNYUK, associate professor of the department of vertebrate physiology and pharmacology Olexiy MELNYK and coordinator of international programs of the faculty Maryna HALAT. The event was held on the basis of the first and only School of Veterinary Medicine in Ireland University College of Dublin (Dublin, Ireland).

On April 29-30, 2025, at the faculty of veterinary medicine of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine with the support of the French Embassy in Ukraine and personally the attaché for agriculture Jean LIANOTT as well as the project of the European Commission in Ukraine «Improving legislation, control of food safety, animal health and welfare in Ukraine» and the expert Christophe BOUILLOT the accreditation visit of experts of the European Association of higher educational institutions in veterinary medicine was successfully held. The work of the faculty was evaluated by professors Ana María Bravo MORAL from Spain and Pierre LEKEUX from Belgium. During the first day of the visit, experts met with the management of the University and faculty, reviewed the internal capacities of the faculty and presented the external bases of the faculty's practice. Experts saw how classes in various disciplines are held at the departments of the faculty and received answers from teachers and students to questions that interested them. Colleagues and graduates supported the faculty on the path of accreditation, in particular, Olexandr VERZHYKHOVSKY and Andriy MARUNCHYN. On the sidelines of the General Assembly in Dublin the delegation of the faculty of veterinary medicine had the opportunity to personally communicate with experts and work out ways to successfully prepare for the next stage of accreditation.

During the General Assembly, the delegates approved the report of the president of the European Association of higher education institutions in veterinary medicine and the financial plan for the next year, elected representatives of the committees, and got acquainted with the rich educational program. The latter included questions about the specifics of job evaluation faculties of veterinary medicine, the use of joint approaches in the development of criteria for evaluating student performance, as well as biosecurity measures and their best practices. Especially interesting and informative was the review of capacities accredited by many accreditation agencies of the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University College in Dublin.


The executive committee of the European Association unanimously approved the report on the results of accreditation of the faculty of veterinary medicine of the NUBiP of Ukraine and recommended that the next stage of a full-fledged accreditation visit of experts be carried out within up to three years.



Congratulations to the faculty of veterinary medicine of the NUBiP of Ukraine on the approval of the expert report and compliance with the European system for assessing the quality of education and an important step towards integration into the European space of veterinary education.
