International internship of scientists of the department of veterinary reproductology at the Wroclaw University of Natural Sciences

Within the framework of international cooperation on the implementation of European standards in the field of animal husbandry of Ukraine from 09 to 14 June 2025, a delegation of scientists of NUBiP of Ukraine and representatives of the dairy business, consisting of the head of the department of veterinary reproductology of NUBiP of Ukraine Olexandr VALCHUK, associate professor of the department Yuriy MASALOVYCH and the management of LLC NBA «Pearl of Podillia» Serhiy IVASHCHUK and Serhiy YALOVCHUK, visited the Republic of Poland.
During the trip, they visited leading state-owned agricultural enterprises, in particular breeding Danko company and Ketcz dairy farm which demonstrate high results in breeding work, feeding organization, reproduction management, and digital monitoring of cow health.

Of particular interest was the visit to the city of Poznań, to the animal breeding and reproduction Center. There, the participants briefly got acquainted with the European rules for the selection, evaluation and cryopreservation of sperm of outstanding Bulls.

On June 11, practical master classes on embryo leaching in vivo were held in Wroclaw, which were conducted by a doctor Uwe KUHENMEISTER — animal reproduction specialist, ECAR graduate Team Leader Embryotransfer D-ETR 003 EWG (classical method) (Berlin, Germany). Also, the staff of the department improved their knowledge of embryotransfer and the technique of transvaginal puncture of ovum pick-up follicles (OPU) in cows. Master classes were held by Izabela WOTSLAVEK-POTOTSKA (PAN Olsztyn) and the Gamet and Fetus Biology team (Poland).



On June 12-13, 2025, Polyanycia-Zdroj hosted lectures by scientists from Poland and other countries of the world on fertility, reproduction management, embryo evaluation and current problems in animal reproduction.

This visit was an important part of the exchange of experience and a guide for the further development of Ukrainian animal husbandry, taking into account the best European practices. Considerable attention was also paid to strategies for effective reproduction management, genetic improvement of the herd, and the use of innovative IT solutions. Cooperation between Wroclaw University of Natural Sciences and NUBiP of Ukraine contributes to improving the scientific and practical experience of the lecturers of the department of veterinary reproductology of NUBiP of Ukraine and positively affects the efficiency of cattle reproduction in Ukraine — a key factor in the high profitability of the dairy cattle industry.
