Maksym Klymenko, head of the department of international relations at the NUBiP of Ukraine, took part in THE Europe Universities Summit 2025 in Budapest

From 6 to 8 May 2025, head of the international relations department of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine Maksym KLYMENKO represented our university at the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Europe Universities Summit 2025, which was held for the first time in Budapest, Hungary.
 
This large-scale event, organized jointly with Obuda University and Semmelweis Medical University brought together more than 300 leaders of higher education from more than 100 universities and organizations in Europe, as well as more than 50 leading world-class speakers. The summit has become a unique platform for discussing innovations, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, international partnership and the role of universities in solving the most pressing public challenges.
Obuda University is a leading Technical University in Hungary, known for its innovative approaches in the field of engineering, information technologies and applied sciences, which actively supports international cooperation and development of scientific research.
Semmelweis Medical University is one of the oldest and most prestigious medical institutions in Central Europe, which occupies a leading position in medical research, education and innovation in the field of health care.
 
Among the key topics of the event were:
  1. Challenges related to geopolitical instability, financial pressures, and rapid policy changes require universities to be flexible and adaptable.
  2. The importance of university alliances for increasing the competitiveness of Europe, developing innovation and mobility of students and teachers.
  3. The role of science in society as a driver of positive change and a basis for making informed policy decisions.
  4. Scientific diplomacy and international cooperation as tools to address global challenges such as climate change and health.
  5. The impact of artificial intelligence on education, science, and public participation, as well as the ethical challenges associated with its application.
  6. Methods for improving learning efficiency, innovation management, and the role of science parks in developing cooperation between universities and industry.
Participants had the opportunity to hear speeches by such outstanding speakers as Mark DALY (Chief AI Officer, Western University, Canada), Josep HARRELL (president of the European University Association), professors and rectors of leading European universities.
 
Maksym KLYMENKO noted that participation in THE Europe Universities Summit 2025 has strengthened his desire to develop international cooperation and innovations in NUBiP of Ukraine. The acquired knowledge and contacts would contribute to the implementation of the University's strategic goals and strengthen its position in the European educational space.
This summit confirmed that in a world of uncertainty, European universities must become conduits of cooperation, innovation and public responsibility in order to remain at the forefront of global development.
 
The National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine continues to actively integrate into the global academic community, contributing to the development of education, science and international partnership.
